Ok, this may sound like a strange post, but what the heck! I have a problem;and maybe its just me, or not?

When I shave my underarms its very hard to get the whole underarm area (pit) I seem to have a cave type area in which I cannot get the razor into. I can stretch my underarm with my other hand and shave with the same hand but the other arm is hard to do that way. >:(

I don't know if this is typical or not. I am on the thinner side and when I was bigger I didn't have the need to shave ;) so didn't notice then.

Anyone else with this strange but aggravating problem.

Four things,
Go for different directions in using the razor. Side to side, up and down, down and up. Have to do this weekly?
Wax them, Maybe every 3-4 weeks
Laser them, semi permanent (months to years)
Hair removal cream. same as shaving, weekly (?)

One thing you may want to contemplate is a hair removal/ pamper timetable. Sorry for being organised. I keep in my diary when to do a particular area etc. I just hate to step out of the shower and as I'm drying off think damn should have done my *.

I have to keep diary appointments for laser, eyebrows, pedicure etc so it seem to fit in. It also makes me feel nice that I'm in control. Sorry if that sounds strange but I have a very feminine feel for how I'm treating myself that way. When I was pretending to be a guy it was, must get a hair cut. Must polish my nails, must do this must do that. Now I'm organised. I can still change my schedule but there is none of this, must book an appointment to get X done. I've done it. Ad as soon as it is done I book the next.

Sorry I also this may stretch peoples finances I hope I'm not unfeeling. But it works at every level. Do it yourself or (if you are lucky) have it done to you. But by being organised you don't sit there before going out and thinking, I need six hours to get ready. You are ready.

For some reason, the thought of having electrolysis in my armpits makes my teeth ache. Brrr....

I have a contentious question (and it's not a judgement of the current subject, but...): what's wrong with hairy armpits on a girl? ;)

ewwww not on this girl!

@ Cindy thanks but I have no qualms about shaving them just have problems getting in certain areas, its like trying to shave the inside of a small ball. No matter how I move my arm it stays concave.

Oh well, the struggles a woman must endear. :D

Waxing is effective if the hair is long enough.

For those who have tight budgets duct tape makes a good alternative to the beauty shop wax strips, by the way!

You can also try epilation if you can get it to run over that tricky area.

Try doing it when you are half blind in one eye.  Then it is all done by feel.  Laser would be good but that will be way down the line.  And don't use Nair, unless you like burnt pits. :icon_yikes:

I always feel guilty when I read posts about people struggling with body hair. I'm not sure why but I've never had any apart from the general er genitalia area. My underarms and legs and even face are totally hairless. I used to get riddled for it at school but now I'm the one who is laughing. But I do sympathise with you, I'm sure it must be a real pain to deal with.

I shave, I pluck, I epilate, whatever it takes to deforestate the area ;)

My underarms are the easiest place on my body to shave, takes me probably about a minute each. And I do have a lot of hair there, just don't let it grow long and out of control, shave them probably twice a week, or whenever I feel I have to, such as if I'm wearing a top or dress where I know they are going to be visible, grab my razor, a few licks of it on each, dry (almost always dry shave, the hair comes off easier and don't have all that mess of wet hairs stuck in the razor and all that moisturizing goop, eew), done, ready to go. My mom's always like, "I don't know how you can shave dry like that, makes me itch just watching you", hey, going to get itchy shaving no matter how its done, I think less so dry because not applying any irritating chemicals to the skin. Took forever shaving in the shower when I used to and I'd still miss a lot of hair on my body and have to go back over it. I have a really deep crevice in my armpits too, but I'm able to work with it, just have to move into it at different angles.

I am not sure if everyone read my original post.  ???

I have no problems wanting, having or needing to shave armpits!

My problem is I CAN'T GET INTO CERTAIN AREAS!   :( by shaving alone. I have a holes !! or whatever! I can't seem to move my arm any direction as to create less of a concave area.

I have quite a concaving pit in my armpit, for me, moving my arm up behind my head seems to make for the smoothest area for shaving. If you've tried every position, you must have one really deep pit.

Sounds like if you used a pair of tweezers to reach into the hole you could get the hairs out that way. or surgical style cruved scissors with blunt ends.
Sorry, I don't have any true experience with trimming out the inside of a racquetball. Thankfully I can just stretch my skin somewhat out of the pits and epilate it from there.

Shelly,
I have the same problem hun...I just spend a little more time on them. Using every direction.
I use my epilator on my legs, and once tried it under my arms, hurt too bad..

Have you tried one of those really little razors they sell for shaving the bikini area?
