Yeah, I've only heard of it as self-identifying guys who like to crossdress in a more "cutesy" style.

  Traps?  You mean those aircraft that sucessfully engage the arresting wire on an aircraft carrier?  The take-offs from a catapult is called "Cats".  That what those pilots do most of their flight-ops time, Cats and Traps.  I seen and photographed a lot of those.
  OHHH!  Traps!   You mean traaaps!   Don't be bothered by that, I'm so old, I would not qualify for being a cougar TRAMP!

I'd never heard the word used in such a context prior to reading this thread. Seems rather odd though, considering the individual chooses who they find attractive and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as it were. I don't see how anyone is trapped into anything. The only trap I can see is that which everyone comes into contact with on a regular basis: that of assumption. And that trap is always laid by the individual, not the object of their libido.

I find it difficult to empathise with the need to blame someone else for one's own thoughts and actions, and I see the word used in this context as simply a way to avoid examining or taking responsibility for such thoughts and actions, stemming from an innately percieved question to one's own heterosexuality.

i look at trap pictures all the time on 4chan, 7chan, and omnichan and love them simply because i think they are beautiful. the phrase...well i think its sorta cute. it doesnt seem derogatory to me because the girls take the pics themselves and then post.they are proud of their appearance and that is cute too. so i guess it depends on who you are.*shrug*....i'm gonna go open a new tab now...

I personally don't find the term very offensive. It can be a broad term but I most often see it used to describe someone who is MtF who passes flawlessly or is very beautiful. I would be more worried about the person who is saying it's intentions, rather than the word itself.

As you can obviously tell by my username, I have no major aversions to the term and have embraced it.
