What I wouldn't give for a Keilwerth saxophone (what's your dream instrument?)

I just HAD to come and express my love of jazz instruments, especially a beautifully crafted saxophone. I love the bouquet of noise coming from a well put together woodwind / brass ensemble.

Just to give you an idea:

That's a copper body and gold lacquered keys, an $8,000 dollar work of art. And I would play the hell out of that thing.

If someone offered to give you your dream instrument (one which you can actually play, and actually would play) what would it be?

I don't really play instruments anymore.  But if I did, I'd want a really good melodica.

I'm an acoustic, finger-style player and I love a full, rounded sound (no cutaways for me.)

If I had one, it would never feel the sting of a pick

I used to play the saxophone.  I have a pretty nice one collecting dust in my closet.  Oh well.

Ahhh I love the daydream...

The clicking keys, the feel of my fingertips against the mother of pearl buttons, the solid hum of a g note as I warm up the cool metal, my mouth around the mouthpiece, lip pressed against the reed.

/sigh

a melodica would be fun! I tried a guitar for about a year, and I ended up not playing it very often.

Memories... lol

The last time I tried playing mine, I was only able to hold the right embouchure for 3 notes and then my mouth collapsed and all I could manage were honks lol.  It was frustrating.

Haha! I quit for a few years and felt the burn trying to keep the formation together as I worked my way back into playing on a decent level. It is funny to realize how much like riding a bike playing a saxophone is NOT like.

I wish i could play & had a banjo so bad =(
Dude, I thought I was the only one who wanted a banjo! I don't care what anyone says, when they're played right I think they're awesome, if only for the "Oh my god, is that seriously a banjo?" "WHY YES IT IS." opportunity.

Top of my instrument wish list?

I know, I know. Everyone wants one, but I've wanted one since I was a kid. I just think they're gorgeous.

Also, I'd be a very happy boy if I could find another mahogany upright piano like the one I had as a kid. I like the portability of an electric, but damnit nothing compares to the sound of a real piano.

National Tri-cone Resonator guitar.

There is a down-side to the banjo though, Rex and Chaos.  Like Billy Connolly (top player) said,  "Nobody ever says, 'That's the banjo player's groupies, or that's the banjo player's Ferrari!' "

It's nice to dream of a lovely instrument, but don't let that stop you from playing something now.
I play a few hours every day on a guitar that didn't cost much.

What's my dream instrument? I don't know.
If I had a nice guitar I wouldn't be taking it to the park or on buses.
If I banged it against something I'd probably lose my mind.

No cutaways for me either!

Too true Renate.  When I want to make some noise I plug in my home made electric lap steel.  Basically just a length of scrap  timber with a Japanese humbucker pick-up that howls when I plug it in to my Marshall amp. Cost maybe $40 all up.

I got my dream instrument after my first college graduation... the Epiphone Supernova (Noel Gallagher's signature edition)

She's puuuuurty...

Out of instruments I could play, I want a nice, vintage, 1940's trombone. That's when jazz was in it's hayday (well in my opinion, that's when all the good music started happening), and they just made stuff better back then. I got to play my band teacher's vintage one day...like holding a piece of history.

But out of ones I can't play, holy crap, upright basses are the gods of strings. Either that or a Stradivarius violin.

My favorite instrument is the cello.  I wish I had one and knew how to play it.

Lol...that works for me, I don't think I could handle groupies even if I got somewhere. I'd freak out O_O
I mainly want one so I can sit on my porch playing the Deliverance them, freaking out the gangstas nearby.

@Renate, you're absolutely right. Best thing I ever bought was a cheap 90$ Fender Squire guitar. I love that thing dearly, I'll never get rid of it. It's still got good sound, it's light, and I love it. It's my baby.

besides, i'm just a secret southern redneck boy at heart so i just need my banjo, dont need no groupies or Ferrari :B
