Hey girls hope you don't mind a guy posting a thread here.  :)

I have some questions regarding Depo Provera and transwomen.

If some of you remember I posted a thread in here back in the fall about how I was on Depo and my chest grew from less than an A cup to a full B?  Well, turns out I'm not the best judge of cup sizes, havien't seen a lot of breasts, I'm gay lol.  Anyway after seeing a pic of a guy who got peri with a full B; I now realize that I probably went from less than an A to maybe a full A more like 85% of an A.  Still not 100% sure on sizes lol.

I also have put on about 10-12 lbs since starting the shot last May. So I know that some of the growth is due to regular weight gain and I'm hoping most of it is.

For me, after I get the shot within 24 hrs my chest seems to bloat up, like a lot.  Also I've noticed that for about 10 days after my shot, all of me retains a lot of water.  And to me it seems even after the bloat goes away, my chest is slightly bigger then it was before.  :'(

I really would like to hear what your experiences on Depo Provera are/were.

Did you gain weight on it? If so, how much?  Were you able to lose it while still on Depo Provera?

I know we can't discuss doses, but is it OK to ask how often you get/got your shot?

Did you notice breast growth?  If yes, how much and did it stop after a while?

Did you take Depo Provera with Estrogen or anti-andorgens or anything else?

If yes, do you think if you just took Depo Provera on it's own, would you have experienced the same results?

Does Depo Provera increase Estrogen?

If I'm lactating just a little, does that mean my E is up and maybe that's why I'm getting some growth?

Would testosterone stop the growth re-vert it, since testosterone does cause fat distribution and breast tissue breakdown?  Or would I have to be off the Depo Provera for it to work like that?

Last question I promise, lol. If you answered yes to the one above, would being on a lower dose of T (half or a quarter of the regular dose) do the same to some degree or would I need to be on a full dose?

Since I am gay, and plan on having sex with men I need to be on some form of birth control.  And I don't like the risks associated with non-hormonal IUDs.

Oh wait one more question, sorry, does extra progesterone (any form) on it's own produce breast growth or do you need more E for that as well?

Thanks so much girls!  :)

last year from january for about 9 months I took a month depo provera and it really messed me up!  Well I got depressed and gained like thirty pounds. To add to that I can still feel it in my system and can't wait for it ti leave. It makes you retain water, which can be mistaken as breast growth but imho it is a milky looking toxic substance! Stay away from it and take prometrium ir microgest 10 days per month. Niw that I think of it,  the dp did help lower my t- which may have been the only benefit, but taking a extra half of spiro pill every so often acieves the same thing. Fill ur script 5 days early and use the exra wisely

I don't know about most of this, but I'm on depo right now because spiro didn't make even a tiny dent in my T levels.  Depo knocked them through the floor.

However, I'm severely depressed and am going to talk to my endo about getting on to something else when I see her in a month.  When I say severely depressed, I mean that I cry (full wailing, not meek sobbing) between 2 to 8 hours a day depending on external circumstances.  There's not much that anyone can say or do to cheer me up when I get like this and it's totally impacting my ability to look for work at a time when I need to be functional.

Breast growth has been exceptionally anemic, but I don't know if that's genetics or what.  I've been 5 months now and am barely halfway to an A cup.  I didn't experience breast swelling at the time of the injections, and wouldn't be able to tell if I retained water because I have a stomach condition (surgery complication) that causes me to bloat up every single afternoon from anywhere between 2 to 4 pant sizes bigger than where I am in the morning.  It's immensely painful.  I also can't comment on weight gain... I gained 25 pounds in the last 2 months but it was because I was eating around 4000 calories a day in an effort to put my body weight back into the normal range for my height.

Still, I'm going to ask about a natural progesterone and hope it works as well as depo for reducing my T levels, given that spiro isn't an option for me.
