::)  I was going to post on "Lightbulbs" interesting  thread, https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,98754.msg727249.html#msg727249
but then thought it might be an idea to start a separate  topic on "Internalised Transphobia Phobia" ...If I had posted this info there, it might have taken it off track [hijacked her thread] ...

::)  So here goes...

On a personal level, all the way through what I call the most "active" period of HRT [I put this down to around 18 months for me- after 18 months HRT went into maintenance mode] I didn't see any changes to my facial features[apart from aging that is], However society did...As far as I was concerned my facial features hadn't changed one bit, I saw [and still see]the same person when I looked in the mirror as I've always seen, and I've been on HRT for around 13 years...

Metamorphosis = gradual change... a change so slow that the one who focuses their attention to detail "every single day" normally misses it,[as ones mind becomes accustom to the gradual changes that are taking place] or wishful "thinking" might take over and the mind starts to play tricks on them, they start to see what's not there...

But as I've mentioned above, it was "society" who saw the female and I just saw a genderless minds eye "me" ...In other words, I had reached society's G.I.R.L =Gender Identity Recognition Level...

One has to take into account we are all androgynous to some extent and I believe this androgyny will remain with us no matter what -For some andro remaining more obvious than gyny or visa versa...I think you all know what I'm getting at when it comes to HRT and it's effects...

Sadly the stronger ones desire is to remove "all" traces of the male [or in the case of the trans- guys female] characteristics, the more entrenched one's mind could become with "internalised"  transphobia phobia-not wanting any trace of their birth-sex characteristic left, and this become an unhealthy obsession especially for those who have the funds to pay for facial surgery ...

::)  Not that FS is a bad thing, for some it has greatly improve their overall wellbeing/confidence[in many cases a simple "nose job" has worked wonder for some-especially for some Caucasians ]...But for others who are not satisfied with the results[ even though society as the"beholder" is quite happy with the results] they opt for more surgery, when what they might really need is more "counselling"...

::)  I've often wondered about ITPP, is it really all about the person wanting to look like ones target sex ? Or is it to be seen as a more  "beautiful" version of ones target sex?

::)  Well do you suffer from ITPP ? Or will you let society be the judge?
Or perhaps "narcissism" could have something to do with it ...

This thread is not designed to pass judgment..It's just to make one "think" before going under the surgeon's knife/scalpel [in some case "again"]....
