Hi girls I just have a few quick questions. I'm due up for my next Depo Provera shot in about 2 weeks and I'm trying to decide if I should go for pills instead.  :-\

Are progesterone only birth control pills less likely to lower testosterone then Depo Provera?

Are progesterone only birth control pills less likely to cause breast growth?

Can progesterone only birth control pills cause weight gain?

Thanks.

Back in the 60's through the 90's, the birth control pills were used for the sex reassignment preparations.  Now the post-menopausal HRT is used because they lowered the per pill dosages in the birth control pills because the medical professionals decided the dosages were too high for birth control purposes.  It is possible you may get by on those lower dosages, see your doctor!

Thanks for your response hun.  :)

I will see my doctor in a few weeks when I'm due for the next shot.

Does that mean the newer lower dose progesterone only birth control pills would have less feminizing affects then the Depo Porvera shot?

OH!  Yes,  it would!  Depo Provera also contains an estrogen, you'll need both!  There is probably a good reason your doctor gave you a dose of this powerful stuff.  But ask questions to your doctor anyway.

Wow it really contains an estrogen!  :o :o

I'm actually a gay FTM and on Depo for birth control so it being a really powerful feminizing hormone is not good for me lol.

Do you know if the lower dose Depo Provera shot would be less likely to have feminizing effects?

Also would you happen to know which brand of progesterone only birth control pills are the least feminizing?

Tyler,
I think you should ask your doctor on this.  Things are different with the FTM's here.

Have you consider other methods of birth control?
