I went to the VFW tonight with my boyfriend. I was nervous at first, but after a few minutes it was like Christmas in there. I haven't passed in a long time. I was the only guy there under 30, so all the older guys liked me. I was referred to as 'he', 'young man', and 'feller' on multiple occasions, and even got a back pat from one guy!

Every time my boyfriend introduced me as his girlfriend (as he often does >.>) they looked startled/ confused, which got me all giddy with excitement. I couldn't believe it :D made my night

Congrats dude, it's a great feeling... does your bf see you as male though? Can't imagine dating someone that referred to/saw me as female

Erm...what's a VFW? Lol, anyway, congrats man!

Though I have to agree with lexical, I couldn't imagine dating anyone who called me she or thought of me as female :(

In the US it stands for Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sometimes they have a bar or restaurant within them and have recreational nights like bingo and Scrabble. No lie, I used to go to my local one for the Scrabble club, lol. It was a lot of fun. But anyhow, yeah, they honor vets there and usually have a lot of military/war memorabilia in them.

Wow. I was thinking you went in there as two gay boys and I was like "whoa, gay boys in the VFW, that has to be a first!" My aunt used to work the bar at a VFW in a little tiny midwest town...I have fond memories of going there but I don't think I'd really like going there much now, lol.

Megan, loved your comment LOL. Sooooooooory.
"two gay guys at the VFW...", well ja now fine :-)

In any case James-Allen I guess you gotta practice some good old fashioned kick-arse with your bf. Even as MtF I'd have felt to skin the dude like a mule-skinner (just kidding) man.

But if he doesn't want (or can't) see you male, you in the wrong company and NOT just for that VFW. OMG! What a SOAB, I say! I'd have totally freaked but then that be me :-

LOL,
Axelle

Thanks for the comments :D

Lexical: It's a slow process with him. He's older, and has a reputation around the town where we live so I'm easing him into it (if that makes any sense). He usually perceives me as female, but I he doesn't try to stop me from expressing myself when I do (such as wearing my binder out/ and around the house, cutting my hair, ext). I'm not forcing anyone to call me 'he' until I get on T.

Meghan: Yeah, no. Haha, not him. He's older (ten years my senior). I think they all thought I was his little brother XD I got a laugh from the whole situation. I've been referred to as both his son and brother in the past >.> I hate looking so young!

Axelle: I know, it is frustrating because he, through bad timing, always does it when I'm passing. It makes my teeth grind. It is uncomfortable, and I will start asserting myself soon. I'm working on getting a job in case things, uh, don't go well after that.
