So I plan on asking a doctor when I get the chance, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask here. When I was almost 13, I was raped and got pregnant. I didn't tell anyone until I was about 4 months along (at which point my rapist was arrested and my parents helped me to get an abortion)
I haven't grown an inch since then. Ive been 5'3" since my checkup for middle school gym.
my question is this; As I was still going through puberty when the pregnancy hormones kicked in, is there a chance my puberty was stunted and T will restart my growth(height)?
I know its not a common question, and one more suited for a doctor, but I thought you guys could give me you opinions. Thanks :)

I don't think so, once you're an adult you're locked in. I always wondered if gaining weight stunted my growth. Or else height skips a generation? Or at least it skipped me. My parents were 5'10" and 6'1"!! My grandparents were 5'5" and 5'4" (yes the gramps was shorter!) And my grandmother's parents were both like 5'1". And I ended up at 5'5" at 10 years old and didn't get any taller from there.

As pregnancy causes increased estrogen levels, I suppose it's possible, but I'm not entirely sure.  It's also possible that you stopped growing naturally at that time.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

A blah blog

I stopped growing at 13/14. I mean I think it's just the age you stopped growing at. For females they tend to reach their height around 14/15 - or so I've been told. I was supposed to be 7 inches taller than I am. Just didn't work out for me I guess, it may be because of the hormone situation you described but the only real way to know is like you said, asking your doctor.

If your plates have already fused, there is no going back.

Sounds to me like that's entirely possible. If so, sorry. :\

Jessman,
T has been implicated in fusing the ends of your bones at a certain time of your development.  Thats why those eunuchs of old grew excessively tall when they were castrated just before puberty.  It depends on your genetics and your own body.  Early pregnancy will stunt your growth as I seen myself.  There are other hormones that are attributed to growth, but the doctors will not prescribe them anymore, even to certain dwarfs that need it to expand their frame to relieve the pressure of their normal growing organs.  It had to do with ethics and the abuse from others that caused this ban.  But with this, if your bones have already fused, that's it.

Hi Jessman,

No T will not restart bone growth to any great extent. You will get muscle redistribution that you can use to your advantage, but once bone growth has stopped there is nothing that you can take legally that will restart it. The illegal ways are more dangerous to your health than it is worth. BTW 5'3' is fine for a guy. Don't get put off by all the tall dudes, there is a broad range in height in men. Attitude is every thing.

hey thanks everyone for the answers :) I had pretty much figured any hope of getting taller was a pipe dream, but its nice to be validated that i was probably stunted. With one brother at 6', and one at 6'7", its easy to feel like a midget in my family. Lol
Also, I really am okay with being short (my favorite pro wrestler, rey mysterio, is an inch shorter than me!) but I certainly wouldn't mind an inch or two :) Ive been concerned with my height since loooooong before I realized Im a guy. Haha

i really don't know about the US, but here doctors will look at your growth plates (usually take an x-ray of your hand) and can usually tell from that how tall you will most likely grow to be, and if the result is in the "very short" range, prescribe certain hormones, which definitely are neither estrogen nor testosterone because those actually stop growth for a far as i know. Which is why young transguys get estrogen blockers first and testosterone later. That only works during the very early stages of puberty though! the growth hormones that is.
From what i've seen in some classmates, i sometimes think emotional trauma can also stunt growth. but there's no study on this that i am aware of.
