Okay, so I've spoken about it on here a couple of times, but my current boss is a little backwards. He won't let me put the sign out at work, or take out the rubbish because 'a woman shouldn't do that! It's a man's work!' He's just that kind of guy, he's old fashioned. He really offends me sometimes, like when I made meringues and took them in to work, he turned around and said 'you keep doing this, one day you'll make a good wife!' and that just struck me as one of the most horrible things I've ever had anyone say to me, even if he meant it as a compliment.
But this isn't a bitchy post, it's a funny one. I told my brother about it the other day, and tonight he, his girlfriend and I went to my sister's house to have dinner with her and her husband. Everyone at that table knows about me, and is behind me fully in my transition, but it goes pretty much unmentioned.
So there we are, sitting around the table chatting about my backwards boss, when my brother pipes up and goes 'You'll make a good wife!' which horribly reminded me of the incident, and I replied with, 'that's what he told me' To which everyone at the table started
lauging, that slow '
I know something you don't know' hilarious laughter that comes from getting one up on someone else. And in an instant that horrible comment turned into an awesome moment for me, because my family took that comment, and
laughed in the face of it, knowing how ridiculous and wrong and just utterly not me it is, and how stupid that man was for even saying it.
Pretty much made my night
