Del

I was just sorta curious about this reputation thing.
What is it and how do you use it?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can start here, Del.

If you click the 'help' toggle on your left upper screen that may help you out as well. Ya know, I've never clicked that toggle to date. So, at best it's just a guess.

If you see or read a post that generally applies to the guidelines Susan's laid out in that Rep Rules link then click on the green arrow by the person's avatar and fill out the reason screen that pops up (you have a limited amt of characters for that so keep it brief.)

Or, if you find a post that violates the site rules or is inflammatory or something of the kind that just invites a fight you may click the red arrow under the avatar to give negative rep point. I presume that has the same reason box that pops up. (Never used that either to date.)

You can also appeal any negative rep, or I suppose positive rep, you don't feel you deserve to the admins by clicking the lil toggle that appears in the lower left of the "Reputation Modification Notification" that you'll receive when someone ups or negates your rep. Again there will be a pop-up to fill out if you do that. That pop-up has rather more space to write your objections.

Hope that gives you some idea. I think things like automatic 10 for new members and automatic 25 for staff members have been discontinued for the most part.

Hope this helps.

Its like Green Stamps, you can turn in your points for swell prizes from the catalog they send to you when you sign up here.  I got a toaster just last week.

Oh, I'm dreaming again.

You can up - that's the up arrow - a post if you think it was really, really, really good, or funny or true or whatever, and don't ever use the down arrow.

Nichole & Tekla,
Thank you very much.
You both have been very helpful since I joined.
Once again, thank you.

Oh... is that how it works... I've been hitting the red arrow on mine to move down the page.

Duh... I wondered why it never worked. :)

Wait a minute!  Does that mean I have to give the microwave back????

I could use a bunch of stuff myself.  I've got invites to four (so far) gay weddings.  Now I'm going to get to wear (matter of fact they expect me to) some pretty AbFab outfits, but yeesh, all my straight friends register at like Target or Macy's, not Nordstrom's or as one has at Neiman Marcus.  Come on, I cant afford a cup of coffee at N-M, much less the coffee maker.

just wondering, where can i see my received reputation?

For some reason, the Reputation link on the word itself (under our avatars) is at least temporarily broken - normally you'd click on that word to view your rep points, the comments that go with them, and a reference to which post of yours each rep point is attached to.

I don't know whether disabling this for the moment is a glitch or deliberate.

The forum software was recently upgraded and the mod used for enhanced karma options isn't currently enabled. So at the moment, SMF default karma options are in effect. The rep system isn't broken, as such.

I was wondering about that... and I know this is slightly off topic, but the ability to bookmark threads also disappeared (as did the list of all the threads I previously bookmarked).  I kind of liked that feature!

That is another mod which has yet to be updated to run with the current forum software. I'm sure the folks that made it are working on it as we speak and it will be back soon enough. :)

I like it here without reputation :)

On a more important note, why is Del showing here as a guest? I liked him.

Del is still here, hon. That other account is from 3 years ago. I'm not sure if it is the same person.
