Voice change not happening

I've been on T for 6 months. I get my levels checked regularly and they are in the green (a little too high for awhile even). My voice has changed a bit, but is still nowhere male sounding yet. It's not like I had a very high pitched voice to begin with either. I was expecting my voice to sound male around 3 or 4 months. Do I just have to keep being patient or is it possible my voice isn't going to change enough to sound male ever? It's the only thing keeping me from passing and I'm getting concerned.

Give it time; everyone's different, it may just take longer.
Have you tried vocal exercises, like Boom Your Voice (youtube it)? I'm pre-T, and it's gotten my voice somewhere passing.

Rook

Yup. Been doing the boom you voice thing. Doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.

Well, that's sucky.  :-\ Not sure what to tell ya, other than it'll probably deepen a bit in due time.

Too much T will turn into estrogen. What was your starting dose? Height/weight? Method of delivery?

I ask all this because I've seen gender queers with half-doses progress(facial hair) more quickly then trans-guys with a full dose, maybe the voice is the same way? Starting at a lower dose, then slowly going up may have an effect as well(to prevent a plateau I would suspect).

I'd imagine it will eventually change, but I'm not a doctor. Also, you probably need to remove your dosage from this post. I'm pretty sure posting it is against the rules.

Inflection plays a huge part in how people interpret what gender your voice sounds like... so maybe try working on that for now?  I've helped teach a lot of people how to develop a female voice and the main thing I stress is consistency in the tone and inflection.  As a guy, I had one of the lowest man voices you would ever hear, and as a girl I have a much higher southern female voice.  However, just raising the pitch of my voice didn't make my voice pass.  In fact, the few times I've lowered my voice for people to show them how low I can still go, they say that I sound like a female trying to talk like a man... which leads me to believe that it's strictly inflection at this point that is causing my voice to still be perceived as female.

I've never tried to teach anyone to develop a more masculine voice, but if you are wanting help in voice training then I suspect I could at least give it a try =)
If you want I will send you my Skype name and we can talk there.

Brandon, thanks for the rule tip. I took it off.

Point is that I'm not taking a low dose, and my endo tests my levels to make sure they aren't too low. I'm happy with my progress in all other areas, so I don't think it's a dose problem.

Vanna, I've done multiple experiments where I try to be as monotone as possible, and with as low of a voice as possible without sounding like I'm a girl trying to speak like a guy. Doesn't work. I do know that I speak higher at the beginning of sentences, which sounds girly, so I try not to do that when I remember. It's so hard to be conscious of my inflection all the time, but even when I am, my voice doesn't sound male. I'm continuing to work on inflection, but there's definitely more to it than that. Hopefully it's just a matter of time. I really do appreciate your sykpe offer, thank you, but I'd be way too awkward for that :p

I've done the boom your voice  stuff, and I've been told it can be harmful for your voice.

I semi-recently figured out that I usually speak much higher than what my natural voice should be. Pre-T I spoke at a certain pitch so now I'm trying to get out of the funk of talking from the same part of my voice. Just sort of need to figure out how to calm my throat. This might be something similar to you. I feel like it's been changing a bit more recently (past month or two) than it was in the previous months.

Hehe ok, I understand.  However, I really do think I can help.  I am pretty confident that if I could raise my natural voice over and octave, that I could help somebody lower theirs just the same.  Even though my low voice now sounds like a girl lowering her voice, I know that if I spent enough time that I could get my old voice back, and it would be my natural voice.

If anyone else wants to experiment with their voice feel free to contact me and I'll add you to skype!  Worse case scenario you may feel silly and get a sore throat =)
