At the moment I am 5'3 and Almost 180lb, with a lot of weight in my stomach. I've decided I've had enough of this and I want to lose weight so my body looks more feminine. I've decided that I'll start by adjusting my diet [no more soda, snacks, junk food, take out or beer] and roller blading daily, starting with 5 miles a day.

Although, I'm not a fitness instructor, so I decided to come here for some advice. [on diets, excersizes and so on]
I like gaming =] Feel free to play games with my girlfriend and I on Steam! Jushiness is my steam ID

just a note, don't try to be skinny. it looks more feminine to have some fat. maybe try getting some daily exercise and watch your portions more. that's what i would do.

I went from ~170lbs down to 108lbs over about 6 months only by eating better and walking around 30mins a day. Since then I forced myself to gain back some weight and I've been staying around 115lbs and don't plan on changing it. (5'6, 18 years old, MTF)

Well... the way I lost weight was just through walking and swimming. But... I dunno, it may have been a bit extreme although it didn't feel that way at the time.

Being 6'2", I've always hidden weight really rather well, and it came as quite a shock when I got on the scales for the first time in about 10 years and discovered I was... ah what the hell, about 250lbs (yes, I know :P). Anyway, what I decided to do was walk home from work every day (a 6-mile trip, mostly uphill). At first it took me a good 2 hours and you could have filled a swimming pool with the... ahem... perspiration but soon enough I shaved half an hour off the time.

I also halved my calorie intake and swam a mile a day at the weekends.

Upshot of it was, I lost 5 stone (70lbs) in roughly 4 months (hence why it may be considered a bit extreme). Didn't feel that way though, I felt better than I had in years, my legs were... well *deactivates modesty protocols* frankly to die for, and I had so much energy I didn't know what to do with it all.

Dam gene pool, I wish I was 5'3" I love heels and 5'9" in heels well over 6 foot :( and at 250lbs I was one fat chick, so I changed my attitude, sounds like you did also, OH and just so you know DIET'S DON'T WORK!!!!!!!! having said that it sounds like you have had enough and are truly ready for a life style change, that's what it takes. A huge pat of that is portion control and exercise, if roller blading is your thing go for it, with 2 exceptions, one don't over do it and take normal precautions to prevent injury, injury is your worst enemy. Good luck :)

Body types are not simply binary...there is no one specific 'feminine' form.  And it may come as a surprise that many women wear particular fashions for the specific reason of disguising perceived imperfections.  I am never going to have the 'ideal' proportions, but then again, I was competitive in women's athletics for a number of years at both an amatuer and professional level and have a general appearance in a university athletics t-shirt and shorts that I have been asked on more than one occasion if I was a coach of some type at said university (think major school in Austin).

That being said, there are plenty of toning exercises one can perform that do not add bulk.  Reps with light weight levels can do wonders.  It is not uncommon for me to go to resistance machines after another cis-woman has left them and I find that she was doing reps at no more than 30 pounds (I usually stage more than that but rarely more than 100 pounds on anything except the lower back machine where I try to do 125 or so precisely because of a previous back injury that I know needs strengthening.

I've personally found the best results thus far for weight loss to be via a good cardio routine that includes a minimum of 20-30 minutes of treadmill to start followed by 20-30 minutes of cycle and another 20 minutes of eliptical.  I then have a short routine of resistance equipment.  I then cool down with another 10-15 minutes on the treadmill.  That combined with several bottles of water through the day have proven to be good for at least a pound lost every day or two across the past two weeks.

If you want my input, exercise is overrated in weight lost. Why? When you exercise, you tire yourself. Doing so, you get hungry, so you eat back whatever you have burnt.

I'm not saying it's useless. It can help with weight loss and, above all, will put you in a better physical shape, improving your health. But don't count on exercise alone,
especially intense exercise, to make you lose weight.

Here is what I have been doing. I have been losing fair amounts of weight. I will admit, though, that I have cheated in one way: I am taking a medication that, as a side
effect, can reduce appetite.

-Reduce my appetite and empty myself by eating SIGNIFICANTLY LESS for 48 hours - ate my last real meal (which was a very small amount of light food)
on Friday night, then only had liquid on Saturday and Sunday, drinking LOTS of water (like, 5+ litres in a day) in that last day, then ate nothing until Monday at noon.
Then I needed much less for my hunger to go away. WARNING: Do not do this too often. Do not overdo this. Do not stop "eating" altogether. Even during the weekend,
get at least some juice; else you will feel sick / pass out. DO NOT do this if you were used to eating a lot. Do it gradually.
-Add a little exercise every day. I don't "go out" to exercise. It's time-consuming, tiring and it makes me lose my motivation. I try to simply move a little bit in my
activities: I always take the stairs, especially if there are 5+ floors to climb, I get off the bus in advance to do the rest on foot, I run between destinations sometimes...
-Do a physical activity I truly enjoy once or twice a week. I personally use my Dance Dance Revolution game. It's really fun. But whilst it works for some people, I would
never think of "going out to run/bike/etc." or go to a gym to run on a treadmill. I need to have fun or feel useful, or I have no motivation.
-Flee calories like a contagious disease. I try to eat much less calories in everything I do. The general trick is to eat a ton of fruits and vegetables and avoid rich foods
such as animal products, oil (though some "good" oil like olive [NOT heated - heating olive oil turns it into bad fat] is essential once in a while, but a little suffices), desserts,
candies, potatoes, pasta [those are really nasty - a ridiculously small amount is enough energy for a meal, and by the time you are not hungry anymore, you have 2+ meals'
worth of calories in you].
-Avoid calorie-rich drinks in big amounts: just one glass of fruit juice - which is "healthy" in theory - is 100-150 calories. That is enormous, considering you need 2000 a day.
-Always keep it fun. I personally cheat because I like healthy foods much better than fatty ones, but the general idea is making it so that you don't miss fat and sugar.
If you don't like what you're eating, you are very likely to go back to junk.

This is not always the case, and in fact, I would say is rarely the case.  It matters not whether I go through my routine in the early morning hours before work or whether I do it late at night after I get home from the office (and before bed)- I go through a 20oz bottle of Gatorade during the course of the workout and usually finish it either on the way home or after I get home.  I know many people who are similar in their habits...

whilst more difficult to do on the treadmill at anything more than a brisk walking pace, the time spent on the treadmill or stationary bike has been an opportunity to return phone calls...barring that, I just stream XM through the headphones which helps me keep from focusing on the timers.  I have actually had occasions where I extended the session because the call was still ongoing.  But each person is different...

sorry for necrobumping, but this is honestly a catagory i need help in, ive been working out a lot before i discoverd myself, but it was mainly weight training, i wana just work on my disgusting stomach and thighs now, get my fat to melt away, im a big person 6'2 and broad shoulders, so my 255 doesint look THAT bad unless i sit down but it still disgusts me, i just wana know the best way to git rid of it, as it stands ive been trying to cut as many calorys and carbs out of my deit as possible, keeping to very high fiber for appetite control, it usualy works but it is so increidbly disheartening when i do this for a week or two straight and dont loose anything >.< and i will admit latley, with the amount of drama going on i havent been eating right or going to the gym like i should but id still like a more guidied idea of what to do to git rid of my hidious fat >.<

Cutting carbs isn't all that important. What you need to cut is fat. Animal fats in particular are what's worse. Avoid meat like plague. Do calorie-burning exercise. Never lift anything. Mainly exercise with your lower body. I do Dance Dance Revolution; it's fun and effective. Put calorie reduction over exercise in priority. Drink water most of the time, except maybe for juice in the morning and milk once in a while. Get a lot of vegetable proteins. Drink a lot of water before meals. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.

This is always a tough topic, but there is an easy way to approach it thankfully  :D. Make sure to keep a balanced diet (gotta eat those fruit and veggies) so you stay healthy, definitely cutting out the junk. Make sure to stay hydrated, there are a lot of figures on this but try to drink at least 2 liters a day, probably 3 would be even better. Staying active is important, do some kind of activity everyday even if its just walking or maybe some ab exercises (I prefer jogging myself). The combination approach of diet and exercise is the most effective method in my opinion. The other thing to keep in mind is that your body usually creates a "set point" weight were it likes to stay at (damn biochemistry!). This is hard to change but you can do it by changing your daily diet and exercise routines to reteach your body and kind of reset that "set point" to a weight that your more comfortable with.

Hope that helps a bit  :)
