Binder Problems...

So I just got my first binder :) It's an Underworks 988 XS.

Minor Problem: I have a small chest, AA, I think, but anyways, I put on the binder, and it still looks like a uni-boob, or is it just me? I think the dip right after my breasts sort of gives it away... Any advice? I'm planning on exercising a bit, loosing the bit of tummy I have so fabric doesn't cling to that dip, but, am I putting it on wrong or something? I heard I should push my chest a bit to the sides, that seems to improve things... I don't know, I have rebellious perky breasts :(

Major Problem: The back of the binder sticks out when I raise my arm or put my arms back. It sticks out like a triangle near my neck... Anybody have this problem? Anyway to fix it? After I'm sure the binder is comfortable I was planning on sewing it a bit smaller in the back, or maybe cutting out the harder fabric beneath just a bit. Maybe I could safety pin it down for now... Anyways, it looks really weird. Sadly I don't have a camera to show you just how much. i would think this would be caused by the binder being too big, but it's already and XS and it fits just right everywhere else.

Edit: Oops, should I have put this in the FTM Gear part of the forum, sorry... still a bit new here...

Nothing can really be done about the unimoob look, everyone gets that; you'll just have to experiment with different positions for them. I've found having an 'out' is best, since the flesh has to go somewhere, it doesn't just disappear. (For example, I tend to pull them apart to the sides, and downwards so the compression keeps them from migrating up too much).

I'm not sure if I understand what the 'triangle' you're trying to describe is, but if it's near the neckline then I think I know, because the neck of my Underworks binder sticks out in the front and it's really obvious I'm wearing something under my shirt. Is that what you mean? Unfortunately if you're fairly skinny odd baggy parts are to be expected, and I don't know of any ways to fix that besides tailoring it yourself like you said.

I fixed the uniboob. Experimented for a while and ended up doing something similar to what you suggested, it worked really well. I'm so relieved because I like to wear slim shirts and that might of ruined it, but it looks fine once you push things around and rearrange.

On the thing sticking out, instead of being in the front like you, it's in the back, the neckline sticks out. I'm probably going to sew it like I said and maybe wear another tank top on top to smooth things out when I'm wearing slim fitting stuff. I wish they made an even smaller size (not compression wise, or I would suffocate) but around the neckline and stuff.

Nice. I was pretty stoked when I first figured out the wonders of binding properly; spending my life in hoodies was getting old.

I've noticed that Underworks binders do tend to get ripply at the neckline (front & back) after 10 or more washes, I'm not sure why. My T-Kingdom one never did that and I wore it a lot longer, but they also seem to be made of a softer material and for slimmer guys. They're an Asian company, so I guess that makes sense. If you have the extra cash you should definitely check them out.

I haven't tried washing mine yet, I hope the problem doesn't get worse.

I have found several things that need modification (like the length of the part that binds, it's too long and hurts my ribs at the bottom), so my mom's helping me as soon as she can (aka when rest of the family is out of the house).

I did hear of T-Kingdom, but some said the quality was cheap... i don't know... I might give them a chance and try them when i buy another binder. For now I have no money... :(

I haven't seen very many good reviews on T-kingdom binders, with the problem being that they are cheaply made and fall apart easily.

Something you might look into are binders from Love Boat, which is also an Asian company (so their sizes run smaller). They have a varied price range with binders that cost from $30 to $70. They also have a wide variety of binder types so you could probably find something that would work for you. Their website is http://www.lesloveboat.com/shop/index.php?language=en

Just something else to consider for the future. Hope that helps!

Thanks :)

But yeah, I don't have any money, I'll keep them in mind though for when I do. For now, I'll have to make the current one work for a few months.
