How are single-sex schools when you're transitioning?

I'm checking out different types of colleges. Single sex colleges have perked my interest lately; there are a lot of benefits, and all-girl classes are quiet and nice from what I've experienced.

From what I've heard, a lot of colleges don't mind having trans-students. You can transition just fine, though the school might get a bit fussy and confused.

I would check with the school -- some schools will kick you out if you change genders while other will allow you to stay.  Be aware that in a same sex school you might also get some hostility from the feminists who see transitioning as a negative thing.

What Robert said

Also, Single Sex schools tend to be very conservative (I went to one). You may get more flack and grief than you are currently thinking.

I found that liberal arts universities are more accepting. Actually, the more progressive the school is, the less problems you will face. I know in my prior same sex school, you would have been kicked out in a cricket's heartbeat for transitioning. In my current progressive Seminary, I have had NO problems at all.

So, really look into this before jumping the gun. Wearing those cute lil plaid skirts and dress shirts with the other gals may not be as realistic as you think (unless you luck out and find a progressive same sex school.....which is VERY difficult to find)

and then need to deal with having that school on their resume.

Exactly.  Every time the subject of where you went to school comes up, you'll have to either come out or lie.
