Legislation that would require students in publicly funded schools to obtain their parent's written permission to participate in school clubs has died in a Senate committee and is unlikely to be revived in this session.

The House version had passed on an 82 - 15 vote after temporarily dying in a committee in that chamber on a tie vote.  A second version of the bill passed through committee and then the House.
