...from sublingual Estrace.

After a recent TIA, I discussed with my doctor about changing Estradiol administration modalities.

As most of us are aware, increased risk of thromboembolitic events is a known complication associated with oral estrogen administration for women who are 40 years old and older.

It's worth note that experiencing a TIA can both ruin your entire day and scare you to death. Such was the case with me one day, while I was installing a curtain rod.

So, I did the research and found out that Delestrogen was indeed, on the medical insurance company formulary (in other words, it was covered). I mentioned this to my doctor and he prescribed it.

We both concurred in the greater safety factor involved.

It's certainly a different experience in performing self-injections, but it can be dealt with.

But it seems to have had a marked effect in feminization, lean tissue atrophy and breast growth. This was unexpected; all that I was concerned about was the increased safety factor.

It seems apparent to me that the mode of administration of IM injection is, at least for me, clearly superior.

I did note however that given the high viscosity of the Delestrogen oil vehicle, a 25 or 27 gauge needle is definitely impractical.

I made the mistake of grabbing a 22 gauge needle when doing my injections. It didn't take long to figure out it wasn't going to work. Of course, it was already stuck in my leg when I did. I usually use an 18 gauge needle but sometimes 16s are what are available. Starts to sting when you get to those bigger size needles. My doctor has since switched me to orals but If I have any problems, I'll be back on the needles.

Sorry, typo. That should have been 27 gauge. Not sure I ever tried 22 gauge.

I will try a 20 gauge needle.

The process needs to occur much more quickly than is possible with either a 25 or 27 gauge needle.

Call me a 'girly-girl' if you will, but having that needle stuck in my derriere for half of an eternity, doesn't do wonderful things for me, psychologically.
