Even though the entire country of Canada happens to have a lower crime rate than any Wal-Mart parking lot, hate and homophobia are still present, and Elle Noir has the shot wound to prove it. The transgender performer is the victim of what Halifax police aren't calling a hate crime.

Noir claims that the two men who shot her in the arm came to her door impersonating police officers and demanding to be let in by yelling "->-bleeped-<- ->-bleeped-<-got." Police are weary of labeling it a hate crime because they have suspicions to believe this may have been a drug-related crime, something Noir denies.
