Not sure if this is the right area of the forum to vent about this... But I'm just starting my transition and my therapist suggested I become a member of a certain "Pink" website. Well, turns out, I guess I wasn't girly or pretty enough to be accepted, because they denied my membership!

o.O pink?

Well, this website isn't pink, but it is helpful, informative and useful. Which I think is more important than a nice pastel color.

Hi Keaira, I completely agree with you :) I'm very happy with this website and I love it! That other website was just part of my "homework" my therapist gave me for this week. Needless to say, it didn't work! lol

Then that's their loss. ^_^

^I concur. ;D

Besides, if the site's shallow enough to deny membership based on looks, then who needs 'em. (And "girliness", too. That's kinda shallow as well.) Plus, there's a nice, non-eye-searing blue-and-grey theme here! :D

Welcome to the site Mrs. Johnson  :icon_wave:

I'm glad you chose to come here. You have beautiful eyes if you don't mind me saying. I look forward to seeing your future posts.

To be be honest I don't really know what pink website you mean.

I look forward to seeing some more pictures though...you look like you've got potential to be a really good looking girl :).

Thanks everyone for your encouraging words! :D I started laser on my face today. Yay! Soon, all my facial hair will go, bye-bye! LOL One step at a time, right?
Anyway, the "pink" website I'm referring to is:

pinkessence

I didn't want to fully mention the name of the site because I thought I might get in trouble with the monitoring staff.
This website will have you answer a questionnaire with multiple choice options only. So if you don't like the answers you see in the multiple choice, tough.) And you have to write a 100 word essay on yourself.
Then they review your application and if they think you're worthy, you're in. If not, they send you this email:

Dear PINKessence applicant,
I'm sorry but we were not able to approve your membership at this time.
As a distinguished support group for women, PINKessence is the fastest growing transgendered social network in the world today. We are proud that our membership base also includes many community professionals and supportive ally's from therapists and surgeons, to social activists and caring spouses. Our resource groups are constantly expanding with valuable data all collected through honest and open discussion. Though we are NOT a dating service, many lasting friendships have developed in this caring community.
Some common reasons why your application may not have been approved:
·  PINKessence  is NOT an adult entertainment or fetish site, we do no accept any Lingerie, Swimsuit, Nude, Semi Nude, leg shots, fetish, or other sexually provocative poses in pics or profiles. In addition, no avatars, cartoons, pets, children, or icons will be accepted either.
·  100 or more words about one's self is also required in the narrative portion of the bio and it should not sound like a personals ad.
·  Also, the bio section must be consistent, without ambiguities such as saying you are a  "Female to Male Transgender Person" and then listing your gender status as "NON-Transgendered Genetic Born Female."
·  applications from couples or organizations are not accepted.  Membership apps must be from individuals.
·  We ask that you submit a real "face shot" photo of yourself. If you are uncomfortable doing that, you may have the default "Pe" logo posted instead. All male "admirers" MUST submit a real photo of their face in order to be approved. Please don't submit a profile photo of your legs.

Well that site sounds very stuffy to me! No pets pictures!!! shocking.

Stuffy, indeed!
By the way, I just posted a video of my babies in the pet forum! :)

...but clearly no proof-readers ::)

Now I'm curious - is there any obvious way at all in which you think your "application" failed in their list of draconian criteria?

I wouldn't want to be part of a website like that anyway. At least here you're welcome whatever you're like.
  •

Keaira

well I took a look at the site. And I am not impressed. For one thing they have a photo gallery flashing by right in the middle of the page. Can you say "Targets?" If a non-member can see this pointless gallery then I think that is a breach of safety. And let's just say I dont think you didn't get in because of appearance.

Hi Padma,

I'm guessing one of the ways I failed their criteria was the 100 word essay? Also, I might have contradicted myself on their multiple choice test?
Anyway, it doesn't really matter anymore; joining the pink website was my therapist's idea, not mine.
And I'm very happy with SP and with all the support I've received since I joined.
I will definitely bring this issue up with my therapist today, at the Transgender Institute, and ask her to recommend SP to all her trans clients   :D, and NOT the pink website!  >:(

I'm trying to make an account just for the hell of it.

Some of the questions they have are completely ridiculous, it's like they are trying to classify you as a specific type of transgender/transsexual.

Lets see... they want to know if you are in the closet, part time, full time or legally F.
And apparently in order to be a non-op transsexual you need to have been in therapy and be living 100% full time for at least a year. Oh, and NEVER want to get surgery.

->-bleeped-<-r than thou much?
