I've been registered for some time on OKCupid, a dating site that's het/bi/gay friendly, and has a number of trans/genderqueer people on it.

I just changed my profile to say clearly that I'm (a) bi, (b) only looking for friends, and (c) transitioning MTF - and all of a sudden I'm getting lots of messages from 50-something straight women all over the country telling me "You look cute". People are weird!

Oh, and I wrote to OKCupid asking how to change my gender on my profile - and got no reply ::).

My account just got approved. Got 2 or 3 welcoming comments on my profile.

Out of curiosity I did a search and found that only 575 members are listed as between 18 and 30 years old. It looks like they cater more to the older transgender/transsexual.

One of the main goals of the site is to create an outreach community for transpeople. Totally reasonable but they are pretty adamant in keeping all of their resources within the site and any external links must be approved beforehand. I feel like this rule will limit the helpfulness.

That being said, I'm sure there is some merit to the site.
