We live in a society where the gender norms are incredibly tight and constrictive for men. In fact, our culture sees the world as being split between the males and the not-males, and anyone who dares to do something as radical as leave masculinity is considered to be open to punishment. This is something that Keith Caputo (37), the singer of the disbanding metal group Life of Agony, understands too well.
You see, Caputo recently took to Twitter to say "M2F transsexuals like me are the women who give up male privilege for femininity! Threaten the patriarchy!" Perhaps not the best explanation, but it will have to do. Transsexual women do, indeed, turn their backs on male privilege for the sake of being who they really are- women.
