What a wait it is, it's now Wednesday the 20th.... it was last Thursday that I had the blood work done, couldn't find any doctors in my hometown of Joplin, Mo that would work with me... even prior to the tornado, afterword would have been a lost cause.

Had to drive to Springfield, an hour away and anxiously await my prescriptions arriving (doctor is mailing them, so I don't have to travel all the way to Springfield again)

She said she would call me if any issues came up in my blood work, and seeing how I know diabetes can be seen as an issue at times.. and I've shown symptoms... and there's an extensive family history, I'm a little paranoid and will remain as such until my prescription is in my hand.

I know the doctor intends on prescribing me spiro as well as estrogen, she doesn't like to prescribe oral forms... i suppose for liver issues?!? Not sure... anyway she gave me an option of patches, injections or creams... know nothing of the creams.. and while I'm not exactly scared of needles, don't like the idea of poking myself for the rest of my life and thus when asked what form I wanted initially simply said "patches I guess" Later came to found out that patches are one of, if not the most expensive form.. so after this initial prescription, will likely see about switching to injections.

I guess in the end I wish I had the prescriptions in my hand, so I could stop worrying about things getting in the way.... any of you have anything you can add, in terms of average turn around time between initial blood work and then prescriptions?

My Endo wrote my script for the Pill the same day as my baseline tests, as the result would have reached him before I got back home and had the script filled the next day.  If there had been any problems I would have been contacted before I was able to fill the prescription.

I was to be sent a copy of my baseline and 3months post HRT results, but I am still waiting for them.Hopefully when I speak to him on Friday I can get them.

Hmm hopefully my prescriptions will be in the mailbox over the next few days, this is like when I was a kid and waiting for Christmas to roll around.

With injections you will get deeper peaks and valleys in total blood saturation levels but it will be cheaper in the long run for what you get as opposed to the pills or patches. With the patches, they can make a mess from the adhesive or they will come off when you take a bath or go swimming. With the pills, there is increased chance of liver problems. There are some which can be dissolved under the tongue and avoid some of the liver problems because of first pass absorption rate. I used injections for a long time and when I go back on meds will go this route because it's cheaper.
