I live in a rural mountain area & need to learn how to use one of the better systems.

Thanks for any suggestions for the best product.

they are all gimmicks designed to waste your money

either wax, or epilate

or go to ideal image and utilize their fda approved lasers which are expensive.  The want 11,000 to do my torso front and back
...or you need to find an electrologist.

another idea which I am exploring for my arms is bleaching cream....

The Tria laser system worked great for me. I posted this several times here.

This summer, I do not need to shave my armpits. I guess fine hairs will grow again in fall or winter, but not in this summer.

If you're talking facial hair, no home treatment I know of works.  And I've looked far and wide.  HRT practically eliminated all male hair growth on the rest of my body but did ZERO for the facial hair.  It's the most stubborn hair created by nature.  You have to send in a microscopic army of electrical engineers armed with 100-gigawatt laser cannons to burn away the bastards.  And even after you do that, some survive.

No, my friends, the facial hair is not to be trifled with.  Once stimulated by T, it's a battle to the death to eliminate it.

Julie, thanks, least you are honest. Sounds like trying to hold back Hoover dam with your finger in the dike.

Julie is SO right on with what she says. Exactly my own experience.

Have also a home IPL and a waste of $$$, it's useless!

As for facial hair it is more into survival then the toughest weeds.
I keeps, and keeps reproducing in the millions.
Laser, epilating, electrolysis, tweezer-plucking... who decided that Caucasian males (mostly) need this stuff in their face?!
To survive winter in the arctic without frostbite in the face? And the girls? Stay at home by the fire side, I guess.

Yes, VERY frustrating stuff in deed. And as for home equipment? Light skin dark hair might do something. If not--- just as well save your money.

I ordered the Tria laser product. We'll see. For my face & hair laser treatments worked some several years ago. I have some areas that are nice & smooth and others with lots of hair.  Just FYI, Francis

When out hunting woolly mammoths, whatever part of the body wasn't covered in animal skin was covered in hair.  Maybe we should be thankful the hair didn't grow on our foreheads, cheeks, noses and around our eyes.

In my case, hairs in the beard area and toes are rooted deep, resisting the Tria treatment. However, the surface areas are relatively small compared with legs, and I could finish those areas within 5 mins. Before the Tria, I used to pluck those hairs. In 6 months, I no longer pluck, but occassionally shave a few resurgent hairs for effective laser treatment. I guess the hairs in the beard area so far have been treated more than 10 times.

The Tria recommends no to apply the device to facial area, but I tried it anyway as my skin is relatively insensitive to sun burn and hairs are black. Also, I do not have so many facial hairs. I noticed that most caucasian women have more facial hairs than me.

During the initial phase of treatment, I used the Tria once per week or once per month, and also it took longer time to complete an area. After resurgent hairs became thinner, it took less time to finish an area, and I used it less frequently.

For legs, initially I treated randomly the entire area whenever I have leisure time. Nowadays, I apply the Tria for the few noticeable hairs.

I guess the effectiveness of the Tria depends on the hair color and skin condition. In my case, I guess it was very effective.

i read up on the tria system can i ask what the 5 levels of settings are?

Hikari

Tira is the only one I have heard people use with success, there are cheap laser units on ebay, but most people report basically no success and lots of scarring with them.

I want to get a tria, looking at it, it seems I would be a pretty idea candidate for it (note, that hair on my head is lighter than my real hair color, and way lighter than my body hair), and recently they have had a payment option that is like payments of $90 rather than shelling out $400 at once, and that is kinda cool (but really, anyone with a credit card probably would be better off using that....)

Whenever I get one, I will post my results in detail, I think that the amount of info in the trans community around home laser is a bit lacking, there are a few people who have reported about things in detail but I think a much larger sample would be nice.

LilKittyCatZoey,
sorry to tell you that NO laser will work with caramel, olivey or even darker skin.

YOU WILL ONLY GET BURNED! Better read those posts carefully.

The 5 settings are from lower to higher power.

Again: the less the contrast between skin and hair, the less laser or IPL will work, or not at all.

Electrolysis is the only other option, maybe followed a mix by epilating or plucking.

That's too bad I know...
Axelle

PS: I have light skin myself but also very light hair and it is the same issue. You will get burned. I was, I know.

Tria. Though I've never used it, it would be one that I'm comfortable buying.

However, understanding that you live in a rural area, it still may be better to seek out professional hair removal if you can. Laser is usually ever 4-6 weeks, so you shouldn't be traveling back and forth like crazy; and the results are very worth it.

I do not know the unit of level settings, but level 5 is very strong. During the initial phase, I used level 3 for my legs and level 2 for my face. It was difficult to endure the striking pain from level 5. While hairs became thiner, I increased the level. Nowadays, I maintain level 5 for my legs and level 4/5 for my face. For armpits, initially level 3, but nowadays level 5. The area between nose and mouth is the most sensitive area.

Thanks to Barbie & all.

The Tria system should be in next week. As I use it I will post & let everyone know. Sadly I have real stubborn male hair on my face. I had laser work early in life & it helped some. I have some areas that are smooth & some hairy. I look funny if I let the beard grow out. I realize electrolysis will probably be needed but maybe the laser will help some.

This facial hair seems the hardest part of transition to full time for me, it has always been the biggest problem & I'm sure that is true for most all of us.
