I dont think there is any question that appearance of surgical outcomes is very high on all of our priority lists when choosing a surgeon.  I'm not going to browse thru the terms of service for info, but, are we permitted to post post op photos of the surgeons work?  If no, then why not?

It may be safer to use PMs, I know google caches images from this site, though I do not know if that also applies to the "just for us" section or not. I do have to admit I am eager to see more of Dr. Saran's work, what I have seen so far does seem pretty favorable, but I would like a larger sample size.

All surgeons make mistakes, and all have exceptional results from time to time, but with a larger sample size we can get an idea of the consistency of results. I think you are doing the community a great service by sharing such personal information, and helping people make informed choices.

As far as the TOS, I don't know, but I am sure a mod will chime in soon enough and explain if it is or isn't.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

I do not see a problem with posting results; however, most of us are stealth on this site so that we do not want someone coming on this site and tracking us.  I think they have a general place for pictures and they might be able to show results by surgeon.

Actually I have also been worried about facial surgery.  I have seen pictures by some surgeons and the results are not impressive.  Yet I have met people that have been to same surgeon and they looked great!  Imagine I was more impressed with live results than pictures that surgeon could select.  Go figure!

People have told me results that seem difficult for SRS.  However Susan's has given me information that is more accurate than experienced doctors and endos.  Your best offense is to learn study and ask questions.

Therefore the question becomes how do we protect identity of individuals as opposed to sharing pictures.  FYI many people will share lots of stuff with you off line.

I would def do it through PMs.

Many doctors have pictures that you can see on their website. The big difference is, those pics are anonymous and you are not ;)

I wouldn't be displaying my Vay jay jay online with it attached to my identity. But that's just me.

don't forget to check out transbucket.com for photos by surgeon and by procedure that have already been posted

Thank you, I hadn't heard of that site. I was looking for a yahoo group or something that might exist for the same purpose, but that site seems very much what I was looking for.

yeah it includes both the good and bad results of each surgeon and you can cross-reference it and everything. no need to post pictures of your own genitals :P

Sexually explicit pictures may not be posted. That would include post-op genital photos.

transbucket is okay but it is much more FTM focused, it only has 2 or 3 MTF photos.

I would take any picture with a grain of salt.  As I've been lead to believe, and I would agree with based on other experiences, the pictures you see anyways are either going to be the very best or the very worst the given doctor has to offer.  Your results will likely end up somewhere in the middle of those two extremes.  I wouldn't go to a surgeon just becuase of their amazing pictures any more then I would avoid them becuase of their bad pictures.  Remember also that results are dependant on the individual patient as is healing which I think would play a major role in the final outcomes.  Not following the after care instructions just as much as being diabetic or a smoker (both causes of poor circulation) would have as much of an impact, if not more, then the skill of the surgeon.  In this case, pictures don't speak 1000 words, it may be what they're not saying (poor follow up, etc) and not surgical technique that lead to poor outcomes.

may i ask why the hell not? if this truly is a "support" website and a website that is intended to be a source of resource for the transgender community, why not?  certainly you would agree that one of the highest concerns somebody has when picking a surgeon is "let me see pictures of the results."  The website is already marked "adult content" on the internet.   I really dont understand why pix are not allowed.  surely there's enough yabba dabba bull->-bleeped-<- on here that photos of different sugeons results would be welcomed.

There are always good reasons why the rules here are what they are. The purpose of this rule (as with the others) is to protect the people on this site. Posting sexually explicit photos may be triggering for some people with an abuse history (or with sexual compulsion issues, or for many other reasons). And sadly, posting such pics will also attract the attentions of the kind of internet trolls you really don't want visiting and commenting and PM'ing you.

So the sensible compromise is that this way, people on here get a choice as to whether they look or not, if someone offers to show pics via PM to a link or whatever. That way, everyone gets what they want - both protection and information.

To be honest, I don't care to view your "Vajayjay"... But thanks all the same  :)

yeah, you're right.....even though other sites are able to, I guess there's no way to keep a picture anonymous on here.  I got news for ya, there's already internet trolls on this site posing as members

There are also people under 18 that vist this site.  While those pictures are readily available on non-porn websites for anyone and everyone to view, I for one would hate to see a "concerned" parent threaten to shut this site down for those reasons - I've seen it happen before in other forums.  :(

As any of the other reasons, like I said, its readily available elsewhere and I don't think we need to be yet another site hosting those pictures.  Actually, now that I think about it, what process would we use to verify that it was the vajayjay someone claimed it to be anyways?

Whether they can be deemed sexually explicit is determined by the viewer.  Showing medical photographs of a post op vaginoplasty would, in my opinion, not arouse anyone.  The images burned into my brain of my own post op vajayjay can best be described as the aftermath of a slaughter.  If you consider that sexually arousing, you are one sick puppy.

At the other extreme, the completely healed vagina with the owner engaged in penetration of some sort, yeah, I can see that being seen as sexually explicit.

For me, I have no desire to see either, or anything in between.  I cautiously scrolled down this thread to make sure no images would be burned into my brain.  If medical photos are approved and posted, IMHO there has to be a warning in the title.
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

I agree with Julie's assessment....a post op photo that is medically related is NOT a sexually explicit photograph and I do believe that the other "reasons" are nothing but yabba dabba BS.
If this site is to be a COMPLETE TG support website, there needs to be a section where we can view photos of each surgeons work, unbiased pix of course.....period!

you may regret if you post pics of your vay jay jay on an open forum. Open forum meaning it is very easy to sign up and become a member here and anyone can see it.

I do not think medical pictures are porn either so I def agree with you on that point.

I only speak about this because from last October to April I was a victim of a stolen identity. Some person stole my pics and were cyber sexing on another trans site. Also, this person was falsely identifying me as a Psychiatrist (and posing as me) and it got back to my school where the burden of proof was on my shoulders (giving oneself the credentials of a Doctor and then "treating" people on Yahoo Answers is a serious breach of trust...especially with the degree I am getting). Thankfully, I was able to prove it was not me and the offender was stop.

I know that is different from using my face pics compared to surgery results of a vagina but the threat that someone can do something to your pic that you had no intentions of doing still exists (because your forum name and face pics can be tied to it). Many trans support sites do not allow posting pics of genitals for this very reason. I would just be very careful.

the trick is to post anonymous and only identifying the surgeon and days/weeks post op.  I personally feel it would benefit many people in having a reliable place to view any surgeons work and really help in choosing a surgeon.  to make it further easier, some info could be posted such as "patient is 5'10"  175 lbs and penis size.....so that a better comparison could be made.  Otherwise, I really feel that the credibility of Susan's is severely diminished!
as I said before, I can tell by some of the questions and content of some posts, that there are already internet trolls and perverts browsing this site......keep the member anonymous and problem solved!

the surgeons that specialized heavily on SRS has lots of before and after pics on their website.

If it was a botched surgery then I can definitely see the point in posting the pics to warn other girls but if it went smoothly I would kinda figured they can see all those pics on the Docs' websites because vaginoplasty results usually look the same from the doctor doing it and is very different from FFS where every face is different.

Also, I can see the anon position and that makes sense.
