So I'm stuck in central Illinois and going out of my mind.  No internet access except my buggy phone or going to the coffee house for free wifi.  Four nights ago, my cousins and I chased a possum.  Three nights ago, a raccoon.  Two nights ago, something big that jumped the fence without touching it.

Then the cousins left and I chased fireflies last night.  Tonight, I escorted a spider outside to spare it a grisly death.

Please let me go home!!!  I'm not cut out for small town life, even if I was born here... as far as I'm concerned, my parents had the good sense to move when I was a year old and I like it at home!

Zoe,
Why are you in the middle of nowhere?
Can't you leave?
Doesn't sound like a fun vacation to me.

Zoe,

At least you will be leaving to go home. I'm sorta stuck here.

I just shot a rackoon on my front porch last month.

Got a possum out back I need to get if he shows his face long enough.

I do hope you enjoy yourself though.

Take care kiddo.

I'm in Normal, the small town where I was born.  And I'm trapped here because I came out here with my parents and my sister for the family reunion this past weekend and we're not going home until this Saturday.

Help!!!!!!!!

If you are out by Bloomington Normal you ain't far from the Arthur / Arcola area where the Amish and Mennonites are. Pretty laid back life up there.

Oh Zoe!
Hang in there girl.
Maybe it will be a quiet night now that the spider has left.
The week will pass.

You just reminded me of the little church in Funk's Grove that's so adorable!! ;D  I think I might go visit it tomorrow and take my sister if she gets up before 4 in the afternoon...

I kind of wish the spider was still here because I love spiders and I think they're cute.  Sometimes if I find them in my bedroom, I'll keep them around for a night just to let them watch over me.

Is that strange...?

Maybe you can catch yourself another one young lady. They seem mighty plentyful.
Hope you enjoy your visit to the church.
Sometimes the smallest churches have the most peaceful feeling.
Take care and enjoy the visit kiddo.

Thanks, Del! :)  The church is really quiet and really small, with an old organ and still heated by a boiler in the middle of the sanctuary.  If my memory serves me well, it was built in 1863/4 and is way off the road after a beautiful drive though a forest.

Okay, now I really AM excited! ;D

There is a nice little stone church about 30 miles south of where I live. It still has the little graveyard next to it. And the little fence around it. They only use it once a year for a Christmas service.
I wanted to rent it for a service but the owner doesn't rent it out because of it being so old and such.
Real peaceful though.
You might enjoy just meditating in the one near you.
Sometimes you can feel the presence of the Lord more in those small churches.
Especially where the small groups really worshipped their hearts out.
I hope that you enjoy yourself young lady.
Keep me posted on how your visit goes.
May God bless your trip one way or another kiddo.

Well, I may not get to that church I wanted to go to, but I'm not so upset about it right now.  I found a federal job posting that I'm highly qualified for and I just finished up the lengthy application process from the little coffee house in downtown Normal. ;D  Keeping everything crossed that I can get this job because it would open up an entirely new life for me!

Now my computer is running out of juice and I couldn't get a table near a functioning outlet, so it's time for me to be off again.  Going to Plato's Closet (YAY!!!) and then shoe shopping.  Later, celebrating my grandpa's 93rd birthday.  This is turning into an absolutely fantastic day!

As for this heat wave?  It can end any time...  I'm used to heat, but not this cursed humidity!  We're so lucky in Denver not to have to deal with this crapola.

Just curious kiddo.
Is the federal job in Denver or in Illinois?
Regardless, hope you get the change you wish for.

It's in Denver, thankfully!  I couldn't live in the humidity out in Illinois.

Speaking of, I'm finally back home!!  But after one day in the humidity, not being able to shower, then another day of driving across country, I smell like a rest area.  Time to go fix that before even my stuffed animals keel over in disgust...

I live in Michigan and like Illinois the humidity is high.
At work we do not have air conditioning but a bunch of fans to cool us with our own sweat (yuck).
Lots of showers. ;)
After a while you just learn to live with it.
Glad your safely home Zoe.
