That's probably your Spiro that is the culprit.

I used a nail strengthener every other day or mine would turn to dust! Have u tried the nail strengthener? (im sure you have but i gotta ask lol).

What nail strengthener?  I've never tried anything like that but would love to! :)

I'm not on spiro though... it didn't work for me at all.  My nails aren't any different now than before HRT though.  They begin curling when there's barely any white showing at the end and break far too easily.

you can get it from any store that sells nail polish. It comes in a nail polish container and looks like nail polish but its a clear coat. When you apply it, it hardens around the nail to protect it from accidents. Also, there is minerals in the polish that strengthens your nail from within while it also hardens the nail.

Mine is from L'Oreal

My nails are one of the very few female traits I've been able to cling to while belonging to such a masculine natal form. My nails are luckily pretty rock hard and I refuse to cut them until they just break off and I have to even them out again. I just absolutely love how they feel and they're such an important trademark for me.

Sadly, I feel the exact same way about my natural hair (which I'm going bald rapidly) and my previously great skin tone (now filled with acne and rosacea), and my previously androgynous craniofacial state (which is now showing severe signs of Acrogemagly) and it's killing me on the inside. My nails are one thing, but I really want what's neck up!

Quite literally, I think we all agree that we love to show off female traits to the world, that we feel more empowered with female traits, and ugh, about the only thing I'm proud of on my entire body is my hands. I really stare at my hands when I'm feeling repulsed by everything else, they sort of make me imagine for a moment that I'm truly prettier that I am. But eh, everything above the neck is just so haggard as of late (going through drastic adult puberty with NO  hormone therapy resources) and it's like watching a somewhat-used-to-be-able-to-pass-as-a-girl turn into a haggard old man. If I lost my nails and suddenly they turned into squishy nasty old things that I have to cut off like every boy does, I believe I'd just die on the spot!

I've pretty much had every physical representation of my soul torn away from me by male puberty (which in itself is actually an imbalance and lethal disease), and it's like Voldemort from Harry Potter becoming horrendously ugly after splitting his soul into seven objects.

Not trying to sound rude.....but what does this have to do with fingernails? Also, have you noticed that you post the same kinda thing in every thread, regardless of the subject matter?

I find it's hard to use my phone with long nails.  I can't touch the touchscreen!  Bejeweled is 100% my source of patience when waiting for people and other slow things, so that problem is kind of a big deal.  Also, it's impossible to keep my nails perfect since they break every time I look at them funny.

In a perfect world without the above problems, I like them a little long-ish.  1/8" is plenty long for me I think.  I don't hate it when I have them cropped though.

I let mine grow for a while when first transitioning, as I found it stopped me from picking them for some reason.
Now though I prefer to keep them short like all the other lesbians, they don't break as much either when short.  I do paint them though, and don't always wear sensible shoes either.

OK, Axélle being a good girl (as usual?) and bought some Biotin to see if that will improve my flaking, chipping finger nails.

I LOVE THEM QUITE LONG (TALLONS) AND MOSTLY BLOOD RED, also dove egg blue, pale pink, Coral red, and such! Same as my toe nails. Chrrrr. :-)

Alas with the flaking and chipping I had to give varnishing (and Gel) a break.

Also dropped fro 2x E2/day to 1x E2/day, and feeling actually very boyant! It may just give my nails some more boost also. P L E A S E pretty please!

Hee, hee,
Axélle

I'm not sure about all the other discussions but I really love waking up to nice long painted nails & matching toe nails, shaved smooth legs, etc..... I feel nice with my long nails. Luckily my hands are small & they look nice normal. Little by little changing my body & face to match, etc.....

Please have a nice pleasant day all girlfriends.

Intent of this thread was for us to have some fun with life as normal women becoming more feminine & pretty

Toenails? I love painting them! The more colourful the better.
I can understand an article I read a while ago which pointed out that women will often keep their fingernail colour conservative, but go to town on their toenails as an expression of their wild side.

I'm funny. I just have to have toes & fingers matched. It just drives me crazy with different colors! But we are all different girls, lets just all have some fun as the song goes.

True.  Besides, all it takes is a few minutes with a bottle of remover and you can change your whole look at the drop of a hat. Which is a whole 'nother subject!

That's me in a nutshell.  I usually just put sparkly or opalescent clear-ish polish on my fingernails.  My toes will be whatever I feel like, bright magenta at the moment :).

Cool, girlfriend. I bet you look great. I may try a strong pink for a few days.

As a kid I aways wanted long finger nails and tried to grow them but they always broke off.
I have weak nails and I was a hyper kid always in mischief.
Yea but growing up I noticed that the nails that I envied so much were all fake anyways. -__-

I don't know why but I think of weed when it comes to long nails. I guess that is because my brother keeps his thumb and pinky nail long so that when he smokes a joint/blunt it doesn't burn his hand. -__-

LOL...there was a time in the 80's where the long pinky nail was also referred to as a coke nail...of course, powder was FAR more popular in that era (and yes, the rumors about attorneys and coke tend to be accurate).

Not into any drugs here or ever have been.

No idea how that connects to long natural fingernails for us girls/women?

because it was a tangential attempt at humorous historical reference for some of us women who lived through the era...

But since you want to stay strictly on topic...put me in the category of people who tend NOT to like long nails, either on myself OR on my partners of romantic interest.  Let's just say that lesbian sex becomes quite uncomfortable when one partner has long nails...

Im with ann. Real long finger nails look ugly and off color. It looks disgusting to me.

I cut my nails to match the ends of my fingers. But then I'm gay so utility is more important than aesthetics.

What do they call a lesbian with long fingernails?

Single.
