It does hurt and no, not all Christians are like that. It also hurts when people here make blanket assumptions like this.
Unfortunately there is a very vocal segment of Christianity that has brought on that kind of assumption by their behavior. I do not condemn anyone for their opinions about christians.
It is sad that many of these "christians" turn to the Bible to justify their behavior. "Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man." (Luke 6:22) They think that by being hated, they must be doing god's will. What they forget is this clause: "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and
falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me." (Matthew 5:11) They can't see the implication if the accusations are
NOT false. They do not pay attention to what Peter wrote: "But
how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God." ( 1 Peter 2:20) There is no justification in the Bible for doing evil to people and thinking god blesses you.

I'm not sure I would have left the church. If there is a spirit, and she was watching, would they want everyone to leave? And be left "alone" with the fool giving the sermon?
I imagine
she would have walked out too.
