That only applies if the prescription was for sublingual tablets. If you were given a prescription for oral tablets, your appropriate sublingual dosage will be lower, as it's going more directly into the bloodstream and not getting broken down by the liver and digestive system. Consult a doctor for appropriate dosage advice if changing medication delivery system.

That, and you probably should change it unless your doctor advises you to do so.

This might be somehing you could phone your doctor about, leave a message with his receptionist.

He may or may not reply but it's worth a shot.

Call your Dr. and ask

Most prescriptions for E are sublingual to avoid liver damage, mine taste like candy and dissolve quickly... It is best to check with your Dr.

Hey honey,
"everyone has an opinion as everyone has an a**hole", as the saying goes.

BTW this ALSO will apply to doctors.

Mine is hellbent to avoid liver "load", would not even want to prescribe progesterone in tab form for that reason. HE likes the sublingual idea, of course.

Those E2 tabs are dissolved so quickly under the tongue just as they be going down your gullet. So the only argument: How much E is destroyed if it actually makes it down to the stomach and sees some of your stomach acid. I think pretty little IMHO.

Lastly, which of these KNOWING doctors have EVER been on HRT?? 99% have not!

They in all honesty would admit that all of HRT is no exact science in the first place, as ALL of us react differently, not to forget that age alone plays one big role.

Food for thought?

Sublingual med.s get absorbed directly to your bloodstream and only visit your belly when you gain a few pounds

Sounds like me, I gained SIX POUNDS... please explain.

What's that got to do with weight gain? I don't understand.

It's one of the finer points of fat distribution   HRT will give you some boobs, some butt, and unless your young or exercise regularly, quite a bit of belly also

Miracle of miracles, age 65, added 8 pounds and none to my waist line.
Still a size 10 (UK, SA) bottom/waist.
BUT, I walk EVERY DAY for 1 hr.

Be off just now :-)

Thanks,

are you all saying its better to wait for my pills to dissolve in my mouth then swallow them?
  •

AbraCadabra

Zoey,
yes it's what sub-lingual means: dissolve under the tongue.

Is said to be easier on the liver - though I personally have my doubts. If its in the blood stream it will still go by the liver, yes?

But you'll get more 'bang for the buck' as your stomach acid will not destroy so much E, of each tablet, yes?

Really, that's something to discuss with your doctor, not something you should try because of an internet forum.  It's the same pill taken in a different way, but because it changes how it enters the body, the dosage may need to be adjusted.  Remember that hormones can have some dangerous side effects and shouldn't be toyed with.
