From the  poll at https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,9221.0/viewResults.html The next popular topic desired is:

Clothing styles- Androgyne styles, male or female

So what sort of things are most important for you? What made you vote this popular?

If I can get a few ideas it makes making the post easier.

I'd like some art introduced into men's clothing. Everything is just so boring..... I mean, maybe some design or ink work into men's jeans or something. I alwys think that I have to make the clothes I want to wear. Ugh.... I just think men's fashion isn't as artistic as it could be, but women's is too femme. You could paint the world in my broad, sweeping generalizations, but that's the way I see it.

Edit: I'd also like to see skirts for guys make it into at least a subculture. Summer is approaching! Time to get with the natural A/C!

Hi Ken/Kendra...can't wait for this one.

One of the ideas we have batted around would be men's styled clothes in women's fabrics and/or colors.  Can't wait for someone to take this and run.  A soft satiny men's dress shirt would do wonders for my wardrobe.

As as other subjects...let's see...
- Casual wear - Shorts, jeans, shirts that could be taken for male or female...something like Levi's 501 jeans with a little better fit and made from the spandex-denim mix that women's jeans are.  Some shirts that you would wear to the park or at the lake (besides t-shirts) that look (for lack of a better word - sorry if this offends anyone) "butch"...a rugged look in a more feminine cut.
- The famous Business Casual - Pants/slacks and dress shirts that those of us who are not out at work can wear, that will not look too femme, but still have enough of a touch that it leaves a little question.  As much as I like the idea of the satiny dress shirt, not sure I would risk that at work...the long nails raise enough questions.
- Dress clothes - something for a night on the town ("fancy style") or to church or weddings.  It would be great if it looked good enough to wear for a job interview.
- And a tough one, just because I know you love a challenge...swimwear.  Lots of luck here...I can't imagine much except a crop-top t-shirt and running shorts.

Don't want to write any more...afraid I've written too much already.  Feel free to use any or none of the above, but I hope it gives you a couple of ideas.

I would say "don't kill yourself" getting all this together, but I know you will...you always do...and the results are always fantastic.

Ya put your right foot in.  You put your right foot out.  You put your right foot in and you shake it all about.  You do the Andro-gyney and you turn yourself around.  That's what it's all about.

What do you think of these shirts.

I like the color.
This picture came from vintik.net/deals/clothing/men/shirts/

This one is a black velvet shirt at sierratradingpost.com/p/184,47716_Robert-Graham-Black-Velvet-Shirt-Long-Sleeve-For-Men.html

QuoteNice androgyne silk clothing doesn't come cheap.  Grin

I buy most of my clothes at thrift stores, and have a number androgynous silk shirts that cost under $5 :)

Whether buying male or female shirts/blouses, I tend to like wearing things loose and flowing... would love to see the day where people don't go nuts about perceived men wearing skirts...

I too shop at thrift stores and and get items for under $5.
Some of them still have new tags.
For me it's the best bang for my bucks, which I have very few of.

Just looking for stuff in the middle, you know.  Guy stuff, almost by definition now, is pretty much androgyne.  I just would like to accentuate that a little more without going totally overboard to the "metrosexual" type of image.  A mixture of feminine and masculine would be good.

And cheap, too.  Poverty is the wrong word for it, but there's never quite enough money to make it.

At the moment I don't want to stand out in a crowd if I am buried it is easier to hide from them out there...

Now, don't laugh, but I've made sketches of semi-dresses that should be made from leather overlapping plates, leather straps, leather belts, leather scales and studs. (All brown leather, copper or nickel studs.)
With a semi-dress, I mean just over half a skirt on the right leg, running diagonally up, thus reaching over the privates, and overlapping the second part, quarter of a skirt, on the left leg, attached to the leg with straps. Right leg leather scales, left leg soft leather overlaps (plates) each one bearing a row of studs.
All this attached to a broad band consisting of leather, with numerous leather straps on it, to wear as a sort of corset. Wear a tight green longsleeve t-shirt underneath the 'corset' so it fits nicely, and shows the contours of the chest quite well. Also, stud the 'corset.'
Wear a green pair of army trousers underneath the 'skirt' part.
Use some goatskin (With fur) and the brown leather the make bracers that cover the entire lover arm, but not the hands. (Use the skin with fur as a layer underneath, to be able to make very neat symbols or carvings.) Stud these aswell.
Now, use the same technique you used for the bracers to fashin some pauldrons. (Like the armour-pieces for the shoulders.) Not too big, mind. Use some more leather straps to fashion these to the 'corset.'

Now you have a feminine dress made for men. Masculinity and femininity in one; it's a very feminine outfit; a skirt and corset, but most definately masculine.
However; it's not exactly your everyday garment, I'm afraid, as it's practically light armour.  ;D
Still, I intend to make it, and wear it. If only I had more patience... Or a machine that could sow leather. Or good quality leather, for that matter.
I know leather might be thought of as kinky, but this really isn't, in any way whatsoever, kinky at all.
(I suggest a use of black and red for dark haired people, though. Black leather, red cloth. Die the fur red, too. All colours previously noted simply go well with a red-head.)

So.. Basicly I'm just looking for a dress that doesn't make me look like a weakling. (Like most 'gothic' styled dresses for men do... They make you look positively runny.)

Dryad, that sounds absolutely incredible. :o Get them made. Pronto. Do it do it do it.

Well.. I've only got red leather at the moment, stripped from an old couch. My sowing machinery simply isn't fit to cope with leather, however, and goat skins are expensive. As I have nearly no money to spare as it is, as of yet.. I'll get round to following a sowing course and craft this bit of Shaman's Armour, which it, effectively, is, as soon as I can get my hands on enough income. ;D
But thanks for the comment!
