I like Urban Decay, and they don't test on animals and have a lot of vegan products. I wear eyeliner once or twice a week... I've tried Mac (the smolder kohl), and I love it when it first goes on, but after an hour or two it reacts strangely with my skin and turns noticeably blue.  :/ Bare Minerals has some good, well pigmented powder eye shadow. I like powder rather than cake shadow, it goes on my evenly for me.

I've also tried Ulta, because they're relatively cheap. I got a box set of maybe 30 eye shadows, 4 eyeliners, and some lipstick and blush for only $25. Their eyeliner is chalky, but their eye shadows aren't bad with primer.

The other brand I have experience with is Origins - and they're pretty nice, and easy on your skin. But more expensive than other options. My mom got me stuff from then when she was trying to bring out my inner femininity or some such thing. I only wore it once, for my 15th birthday. Then the concealer a few times for my undereye circles of doom. Funny thing is, I only started wearing makeup on occasion after I transitioned. And the amazing thing is? I still pass.  ;D

For nail polish, I've only tried a few, but I like Ulta. Their sale polishes are very reasonable, and they go on smoothly. I tried Pixel because they had mini bottles, and I figured I could try a few colours more outside my comfort zone - but they take ages to try completely and don't feel smooth even after drying. The other one I tried was Revlon, I think. No real complaints - not as smooth an application as Ulta, but easy to find at drug stores and cheap if I remember correctly.

One a day to day basis I wear none, except if I have a big pimple to cover or something. I go to an I.T. school and there are some neckbeards there who seem to think that anyone who reads as female is public property and therefore their blemishes are deserving of comment, as if there's nothing rude about that. I got so sick of "If you went to a dermatologist about that I'm sure you'd be way prettier" etc. whenever I had like two pimples, it's just easier for me to cover them up rather than feel like punching people in the face all the time.

When going out I used to wear a lot of makeup... I really like crazy New Romantic looks. I don't like how it makes people treat me as suddenly way more feminine because I've scribbled on my face, though, so now I just wear some foundation or whatever, if anything. I'm looking forward to feeling comfortable with makeup again one day when I actually pass, but for now it just makes me too dysphoric.

I can't say much for brand preference, really. My mother used to sell makeup and give me stuff for free, so now I'm too spoilt and can't bear to spend money on makeup.

Heh, I'll admit it, I like NYC nail polish. I used to have red/orange/green/blue/purple/white/black/clear but now I just have black for weekends if I'm bored.

Eyeliner... Um. i have it, it's one of those $1.00ish pencils, so IDK what brand it is.

Even when I was wearing makeup regularly, i never got expensive stuff. It really is all basically the same product, in different packaging

Stuff to avoid? Wet and Wild, for the most part. Lipstick is fine, some of the eyeshadows are okay, but their stick eyeliner and nail polish are AWFUL.
Oh god ew, ok except for nail polish.
I HATE HATE HATE their nail polish. Nothing should take 15 coats to be opaque. 2, max.
/is it possible to be a boy about makeup without being "EW GIRLY"?
