First of all, sorry if i posted this in the wrong section DX im not used to forums and stuff.

Okay so i've recently came out to my family, im going to be getting therapy in september i think and im planning on getting on T as soon as I can but im not a fan of balding D: i love my hair, i don't really want to go bald but my family has male pattern baldness in them, especially on my mom's side, my grandad and uncle both started to go bald around the age of 19/20 D: i dont know about my dad's side because i dont know him but i heard you get the baldness mostly from your mothers side of the family? anyway so i thought of a way to avoid this but i don't know if it would work so i thought i might ask you lot, the guys who know about hormones and stuff xD

Anyway, if i got onto T finally i thought if i stayed on it for a year my voice will have deepened nicely, i would just about make it before i start going bald and my body structer might be more "masculine" looking and body hair n stuff, and then just stop taking T, and then instead i thought i could take estrogen blockers instead, so my body wouldn't go back to female-looking, as in the more fat gain on hips and that and i wouldn't end up going bald......

So yeah i just wondered if that would actuarlly be possible?, or do i have to end up going bald? D':
I know that some FTM's don't take T but i want my voice to be deepened and i want to appear masculine, i know this seems like im trying to pick and choose what changes happen but i seriously hate the idea of going bald, i have terrible confidence issues..i really must work on that.. So yeah let me know if you think that'd work?

Thanks~<3 ^^

It's an interesting theory and I wish I could say it would work but I have to say from what I've researched, heard, and seen I don't think it would. The problem that comes to mind is that I don't think you can be on hormone blockers indefinitely without bad side effects. I don't remember what they are I just remember reading that on here somewhere and hearing a guy on youtube say he could only be on them for a year or two.

I do understand the fear man, I really do but my wanting everything else that comes with starting T surpassed that fear. Plus there are many different things out there to help prevent hair loss. I'd say read up on hair loss and testosterone for ftms. There has to be info out there somewhere. Welcome to susans btw

Hey Andrew, thanks for the advice, shame it woudn't work though, oh well hairloss treatments it is.

In the same boat as you. Out to family, and working on going on T as soon as I can. Male-pattern baldness doesn't seem to run in my family on either side actually. But I did do some reading on it, they say to look on your mom's side because it's linked to the X chromosome. But because in our case, we have two X chromosomes, you also need to look at your dad's side.
As said before, baldness is a lot more easily dealt with now than a few years ago. But one thing I've also heard is that it's a lot easier to just accept it. A lot of cisguys just go with the bald look, and it tends to work for them. It's often pretty badass actually.
