I have one of those (see subject line) and I lent it to someone about 3 months ago and I just got it back today. I'm soooo happy it's like I'm reaquainted with an old friend. I've had it for a long time and damn! it's blue, a clear blue plastic casing so the insides are visible (which is cool right ). So ya, pretty happy to have my thing-a-ma-gig back.

It's still 7:35

I have a wind up and solar powered flashlight. Fully charged, it holds out for hours and to bright to look into.

Cool ! I want one of those too.    I would use the flashlight more if it was separate, having it attached to a small radio is more for emergency use.

I have a wind-up wind-up toy.

And a flashlight.  My wife plays with it a lot.  Makes a weird grinding noise.

Mine sounds like a turbine starting just before ignition.

You would so suit a wind up pocket watch.

I have a battery pocket watch, and a wind up wristwatch. I just think clockwork is so pretty.

Is that a sign of a paranoid person, or just someone with many powercuts?

Sign of a person with a strange flashlight modification hobby.  :) Confirmed paranoid status not important!

That thing is probably as old as I am, it was my grandpa's back when he was a trucker. It is a weapon, it's not very practical otherwise. Don't let marketers fool you into thinking it's a flashlight!

Flashlights were a favorite toy when I was a kid.  I had one of those oddly shaped palm ones that said "Futura" on it, so of course it was my ray gun from the future.  I also used to hold them right up to my eye and turn them on, enjoying the patterns made by the reflectors... maybe not the smartest move ever.

i could use emma's flashlight collection. there are far too many corners without enough light in this house where i live, and it's even worse when i go outside in winter. we get new flashlights every year, but for some reason they all manage to disappear in mysterious ways
