Hi all, I just found out this morning that I have been approved to go to Montreal in February (yay). They want to know if I want implants at the same time, and if so, saline or gel? Since Im getting the big surgery the BA is quite cheap, just about $1000 more for the gel.

So:

Is it worth getting these two surgeries at the same time? I figure SRS will be hell as it is, but the prices for BA are the cheapest I've seen in North America, and it is killing two birds with one stone.

If I go with the BA, what do you girls know about saline vs gel?

I'm 6'1'' and 155 lbs, when I go for my surgery in Feb I would have been on hormones for two years. I'm only a 36AA now, but hoping to go to a C if I get the BA too. Does this sound reasonable?

Cost isn't really a factor, my SRS is covered by healthcare and I have savings for the BA.

Thanks to all!

I went with gel for BA and they look pretty darn good.  I had BA with SRS as I pretty much knew it was the only time I would have the money.  You will want a friend along for at least the first week or so after surgery as things will be sore up top for a few days.  I found BA to be slightly more painful then srs, but it healed much faster.  After a week you'll not have any problems with ba.

Also, there may be growth up top after srs, so don't go too big.  I went up a full size after ba, but luckily I went with the smaller implant, so things are just right now..

Thanks Beni, any reason in particular that you went with the gel ones?

I know I should wait a little longer until I get a BA but like I said before, it would be nice to get it all over with, and I could take advantage of Montreal's cheaper prices without having to go back there. My travel fees are part of what is covered as well.

I would probably only go for a B, which I would be happy with, then if they go a bit more after that that's ok too. But is there a point in getting a BA if I'm only going to a B? Should I have a 'go big or go home' attitude?

Also, there's the fact that I'm sooo scared of hospitals and surgeries and pain, I hope I can handle having both surgeries done at the same time :(

Hope this is making sense!

It is nice getting them both done at the same time. Really ba is not that painful, just a tad more, and the pain is gone very quickly too.  I went gel, partly on recommendation of Dr. McGinn and part from my own research.  The saline sometimes leaks.  the gel pretty much can't.  Really you can't feel the gel and the gel lafter everything sets looks great.  Main thing is having an extra pair of hands to help out for the days after surgery. Doing both at one time, does slow you down a bit more.  But gee your already getting 4-5 days in bed anyway.

well I went for a C size.  Now after post srs growth I'm a D. For my frame size (I'm big boned as my mom would say) looks proportional.  So go for the size you want, knowing there might be more growth after surgery
