Smith was arrested this week during a heated hearing at the Largo City Commission in Florida over the firing of its city manager, Steve Stanton, who had announced plans to begin transitioning as a transsexual.

Smith was in the lobby and arrested when a man approached her and asked for a flier she has holding that said "Don't Discriminate".

According to witnesses, Sgt. Butch Ward confronted Smith and ordered her to take back the flier.

When Smith asked why, Ward reportedly forced her into a side room where several officers violently shoved her to the floor and arrested her.

Wow...

I SOOOOO hope these nuts keep behaving like ignorant idiots, AND that this all keeps mushrooming into the national news like this.

I realize the hate-filled bigots will never, ever be changed... but perhaps it'll create more awareness of the dangers these bigots pose for EVERYONE. Yes, it's TSs being singled out today, but what about tomorrow? NO one is ultimately safe from these close-minded, hate-filled people.

Oh it's spreading FAST. I created a Google Alert for it... and almost regret it now, lol... it's just endless articles in all sorts of papers, not just "our" kind. MS-NBC picked it up, and I'm sure other national news will too. I'm betting television interviews on national programs are coming up.
