I'm hoping to start T sometime this spring, but until then I'd really really like to be on hormone blockers. I'm not sure how to go about getting them. I don't have much money, and I don't have insurance at the moment, though in about a month or two I should have some really basic crappy insurance through my college. With the insurance, there is a small number of doctors outside of my college's clinic whom I could see, but I don't know who they are yet. Atlanta has a Planned Parenthood and the Feminists Women's Health Center, but the FWHC isn't accepting new ftm patients at the moment because they're restructuring their program. Also, I heard that it's unhealthy to be on hormone blockers for an extended period of time because you need some hormones in your body, so I'm not sure if I'd even be able to convince a doctor to prescribe them. That's why I really want to find a trans friendly doctor as opposed to a random one that my insurance covers. I'd only need them for about half a year, and if I don't start T this spring for some reason, I suppose I could just go off the hormone blockers for a while *sigh.* At this point it seems like Planned Parenthood is my best bet, but before I pay for an appointment with them I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this?
