Hi

I'm not sure if this has been asked before but I was wondering how many of you have had a name change and kept any of your real name? whether it be your first, middle or last or even if you have made a slight modification to your original name(e.g. Sam to Samantha)

and also add reasons for keeping or not keeping parts of your old name.

Yeah, I kept both my first and last name as my first name happened to be a female one anyway. Talk about predestination...

I don't plan on making any major changes.  Both my first and middle names work just fine as they are, with maybe one letter alteration at some point.

Reasons?  It's just one less thing to worry about.  Also, I just like my name.

I kept my middle and last name.
Middle name is gender neutral. Last name is important to me...although at times I totally get why people change it.

I have kept my last name --- even though my folks aren't happy about me transitioning.   I reconstructed my first name to a definite masculine name whereas before it was gender neutral.

I haven't changed my name yet, but I see no reason to change my name completely. I'm keeping my middle name and last name, but if I were ever to get married I'd probably take my wife's last name.

My name is essentially unchanged honestly. Even the initials match. All I did was slice out part of my first name and change it with a few different letters.

Didn't keep my first, middle, or last names.  Not even initials.  It wasn't some grand scheme, but the way the cards played out over the years.  First name I picked up when I was 7.  Middle name was when I was 9.  I decided to change my last name the week before I went through the name change process because my dad and stepmom are mean people who hurt me very badly, and I wanted nothing to do with their legacy.  I took my stepdad's last name because he's been more of a father to me these past three years than my biological dad.

Besides, I didn't know at the time that my stepsister had outed me to my dad and stepmom and they had made the choice to sever ties with me (without even telling me they had done so).  In the end, it all worked out for the best.

  I haven't yet but I'll keep the full name, but four letters added to the first name if I could go all the way.

So your first and middle names are Elijah O'Neil?  I have to say, that's one of the most awesome names I've heard in a loooong time!

yep indeed ive always loved my middle name.  Its actually s surname, one of my grandfathers last names or something, not sure exactly

There was noooo way I was going to keep my first name. It was definitely a man's name.  I did, however, keep my last name as I still wanted to feel part of my family.

I like my first name and last but hate my very irionic middle name - guy (a old family name). I intend adding a name infront of my first name, and getting rid of my middle one, or changing it. Tried to find a female version of guy, weirdly there is one, wido, not sure if I like it or not, but feel bad just getting rid of a name.

I only keep my last name, My first and middle name were not feminine at all,  I never liked my original first and middle name even when I was still male. so I went with April Elyse , as I thought it was very pretty. It also gave me a fresh start.

I changed all my names, however finding out that my family accepted me for who I am.  I did consider changing back to my family name as a result.  However the paper work I would have to change is extensive.  So I have not changed my surname accordingly.

I changed all three parts of my name. I considered keeping the middle (Lynn) since it could be either, but changing the spelling to 'Lynne'. I hated my first name, not only becase it was VERY feminine with no nickname or any other sort of relief from the femininity, but because of the other nicknames it spawned as a child.

My last name is only currenlty different because I don't think my parents will accept me coming out. If they do, I'll reconsider changing it back.

Nope, Trista's nowhere close to my male first name. Haven't thought of a middle name..... ugh. My last name I'll just keep, it does have a nice ring with Trista.

First name will be my middle name (Ryan), last name will be the same.

My new mother in law told me that I was actually the first boy (Ick  ) she ever met named Ryan. Go figure.

I debated my name for a long time before I decided what to do with. I was really wondering how much of my original name should I keep. I kept my last name, and turned my first into my middle (slightly altered of course ) And made the name I preferred, as my first.
