Devin is my given name. Originally I thought that there were girl Devins, but I only realized recently that "Devon" is the more feminine spelling. Before I realized that Devin is generally the masculine spelling I wanted my name to be "Devin Margaret...", but now I'm thinking about adopting Margaret as my first name and dropping my middle name altogether. Deciding on the name is more difficult than I thought it would be.

So, is Devin too masculine a name? Do I look like a Margaret? Hmmm

Put a y, a y will make anything feminine. Devynnnnnnnnn......

And yes you do look like a Margaret. ^.^

When I hear "Devin" I think of Devin Townsend, and he looks pretty masculine. I don't think you suit Devin or Devon in that pic though. Maggie sounds better (you look too young to be called Margaret).

I dunno, I only know devin as a males name.

And if you took your middle name, could you live with being called "Marg" for short? It would kill me hehe.

I knew a girl growing up... and she spelled it just like you "Devin". So, no, it's not too masculine a name IMHO.

Devin sounds like a cute name, and kind of androgynous

I worked with a gal named Devin.  In fact we had two people named Devin.  The other one was a guy.  And they both spelled it the same way.

Quote from: http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/DevinDevin \d(e)-vin\ as a girl's name (also used as boy's name Devin), is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and the meaning of Devin is "poet". Also an alternative spelling for Devon.

Devin is not too MASCULINE (bit gay though actually!) ... and then it's not too feminine either.

Maybe more femme names work better for us. It makes it VERY clear you're not a guy, and don't want to be addressed as one either.

I don't know a Devin but Devin reminds me of Kevin which is a male name. I personally would change it.

Devin, in my ears, sounds masculine. To be honest, I didn't even know it was a girls name at all. Cool stuff!

Yes you look like a Margaret in that you look female, but please don't go with the name Margaret :)

i have a friend who is a girl named Devin - keep it... I'm Ryan and I'm gonna keep it!!

Also - adding a 'y' I personally don't think makes things feminine, but masculine... 'ie' is feminine

Bobby - Bobbie
Joey - Joie? Is this a name?  I know girls are named Jo
Danny - Dannie

you get the point :)

Aww, but I like that name for some reason. I can't think of anything fitting.  :-\

I didn't choose my name because I thought it "fit" me. I chose it because I liked the name. If you like Margaret, go for it.

Personally, I really like the name Maggie, and judging from your pic, I see a Maggie.  To me, Devin reminds me of Kevin.  It's not a bad name, in fact, I really like it, but just as a boy's name.  Only my two cents.  Completely understand being attached to your given name; I'm really on the fence about mine, too.  I agree that Margaret seems a little too old for your face, and I mean that as a complement.  Of course, what really matters is what you're comfortable with.

Maggie is too... Scottish sounding for me. It also sounds a lot like "hag".  :-\ I also realize I can't have a name with an "ie/ee/y" sound at the end of my name because then it will rhyme with my last name.

If you like the D___n pattern perhaps Danon/Dannon.

When I think of Devin as a girls name, I think of Courtney as a boys name. It may be used as a boys name, but specific areas around the world. Courtney as a boys name is only really popular in South Africa as far as I know, for example.

I think of Devin as definitely an androgynous name.  I've only seen it as Devon though.  You look very feminine, so I don't think it should have any impact on how you're read.  You are a very pretty young woman.

Besides Michael Knights boss, I've only known of female Devins...

There is a young gg that I work with every other Sunday and her name is
Devin. She is a real sweet young lady.
So yes Devin can be a girls name too.

you are a beautiful girl , I don't think you should pick a name because it "fits" but you should pick one that you absolutely love.
