Hi All,
I was very alarmed when I read this article which I would like to share with all of you.  The invasion of American individuals privacy has really gone too far. The impact it is going to have on TS/TG/IS persons... well I will let you all decide for yourself. But for me this is just horrific and nothing, and I do mean Nothing, justifies this.

Find the article here  http://www.slate.com/id/2160977?GT1=9231  If I did not do this right, ,just copy and paste into your browser. Please make sure to read the full article, scroll down, and so forth.  There are pictures that you need to see.

Peace
Taylor

Wow, that would be pretty insulting if you happen to be a pre-op TS.

I don't like this at all.  I want to be safe, but this pushes things too far.

The war on terror is just a lie. It's just a march twords fascism that serves the Christian Dominionist and Corpratist cause.

Keep us scared. Tell us they will hurt us. Tell us they will keep us safe. You can make people do anything when they are scared.

22 percent of people can't see that.

Hmmm yeah, I had heard about this from a source ;), but what I understood was that they were going to take X-rays of people as a security measure.  If you are familiar with X-rays, genitalia is not visible.

Hmmmmm.  According to the sample photograph, it does not seem that you can actually see the person's genitalia, so perhaps tucking really well could help....I really don't know...I am just guessing here.  Or another solution could be to carry therapist letters like we used to ages ago, or maybe not travel by plane at all. :-\

Whatever the case, total invasion of privacy.

Yep, I'll be boycotting the airlines if they put stuff like this in place.

The pic shown is from one of the first generation machines.  I understand that, due to complaints from the ACLU and others, a second generation scanner is in the works, if not already in testing that eliminates all "sexual characteristics" from the scan and replaces it with a generic body image but yet still gives a definite outline of higher density objects.

Believe me, the airlines were no happier with this first generation scan than the public.

Intresting...

I have been X-rayed several times at London, Heathrow while going out of the UK. But this may be going to far and also will end up with all those cute guys who frisk me at the airports (or ladies) losing their jobs...what a shame.

Way too far.  I'd like to see exactly how many plots have been foiled with technology like this.

another reason still..if you're ts, what is the problem? show them your dl, tell them the truth, give them your therapist's phone number.  as far as i know nobody has ever been arrested for having male genitals unless you are impersonating someone for illicit reasons.

Some of us don't want to out ourselves or be outed to random airport security personnel. I like living my life as just another guy. I don't want to constantly be reminded of my medical status.

Not to mention, I don't need the other passengers on the plane overhearing me explain my body to some rent-a-cop.

if it's the law, we'll just have to comply with it.  passengers and rent-a-cops will have to know; it's part of being in the wrong body!

Fortunately I don't live in the states, so I do have a choice. I already avoid going there because of some of the laws in place. If this goes in, I'll make that an absolute no-go.

This is what's wrong with America and I'm as guilty as Katia.

Actually, if you read the entire article, the person that sees the transmission isn't the one that sees you in person or your ID.  So showing your letter or therapist note or driver's license or whatever isn't going to make any difference.  Clothing doesn't show up on the scanner so the person viewing the image may see one thing and the person that sees you in the flesh sees another...and never will the other be the wiser...that's kind of cool, if you think about!

That's the way they've set it up in Phoenix, and I could live with that as long as nobody was going to pull me over for closer inspection because my body parts don't match. However, there's no guarantee that that is the way it's going to be set up elsewhere. Also, there is still the possibility that just our body conformations may set off the person viewing the scatter, which means you could still be subject to humiliation.

This will likely be an issue even for stealth postops....

Pelvis and waist shape can out even postop transsexuals

You can see the sex organ when it's not been intentionally fuzzed out as you can see in the last picture. You will likely even be able to detect it when it's tucked. I also find it funny on the woman they did not show her back straight on as they did the front. This makes me suspect that too much was visible from that angle on the rear view of the woman, so they had her turn slightly to hide it in the press photo....

Waist cinchers, control garmets, bras and lingere on CD males will likely show up. In one picture you can see his sock suspenders, and in the other male picture you can see the faint outline of clothing...

Hi All,

If you look at the  one picture, you can see the dark spots of what are ovaries on the "female" body. ( See Photo on the link given when I posted this) So if you have ovaries, you are going to be facing some issues that bring forth some wierd looks if you also have a artifical penis that may appear normal in the screening, but the ovaries wont fit with it! If you have your ovaries they are going to show up from what I saw on the screen. I thought that was pretty weird!

And tucking is not going to help the TS Women that is real obvious. TS Males with the artificial penis may be facing an issue if it sets off density measurements that do not look register normal density.  Now here's my question, who is going to be the first person that is detected and the news gets ahold of it and plasters their identity all over the news nationwide??  I can sure see that happening.

Peace
Taylor

PS I wonder if you get that quick pass thing, so that you can just go on through if you will have to go through this detector. Seems to me that once they clear you for that quick pass you could avoid all of this?

Wasn't Christine Jorgenson outed to the world by a passport official when returning?

I like to fly so if I get arrested for having a penis, I will make sure to win a very large settlement.  I would then use it for my own surgery and also make sure a few other T friends get their surgery.  If there's anything left, I am sure that there are some good advocate groups  that will take a donation.
