so I just quit the long term band I was in,  I'm joining a new experimental/industrial band but I was mainly wondering How would an audiance deal with me crossdressing on stage mainly cause there's a few flaws that can give my gender away,  I'm just wondering if its a good idea cause I kinda don't wanna be bottled.

dammnit I had nothing to talk about

Isn't everyone one on stage crossdressing?  I mean mostly they are geeks and nerds crossdressing as 'cool' people?

Doesn't how you dress on stage depend upon how the audience see's you any way.   I find I pass a lot better if you dress down as a female and not try so hard then it may happen that people will more likely see you as a female with some male hormone problems than as a male.   If you dress border line then you will have people guessing male, female, male, and you sorta get what what you want.   For me I think that if I tried to dress like Dolly Parton my male characteristics would be too obvious and my femaleness would be in question.   If I dress more like Ellen Degeneres than my female qualities will hide my male qualities and more often then not I will be seen as female.  When I dress like I do in my profile picture in public I am there I am more often then not identified as a female by passer byes and also by a lot of sales clerks  and bus drivers that I am seen bye every day.

This is just my opinion.   There is nothing wrong with dressing like Dolly Parton and I really wish I could but it would never work for me.   This is just my opinion.    There are a lot of ways to present as female on stage and be accepted as one or possibly as one and not create a problem.   It also depends on what your band thinks, too.   Dressing in dark colors possibly black might work too.   If your band thinks you presenting as female is ok and you can dress in a way on stage that you are comfortable go with the girl.   You probably really won't be happy unless you do.

Be true to yourself.  The future will reveal itself in its own due time.    Find the calm at the heart of the storm.    I own my womanhood.

I am a 69-year-old transsexual school teacher grandma & lady.   Ethnically I am half Irish  and half Scandinavian.   I can be a real bitch or quite loving and caring.  I have never taken any hormones or had surgery, I am out 24/7/365.

I think it is up to you, if you want to, go right a head and do it, I do not think people will be bothered by it.  There are a lot of others in the same business that are pretty wild in there dress, back in the 80ies I can think of David Bowie, and Boy George, even Madona and now lady Ga Ga.  Good luck and aloha.

Just dont wear a meat dress please. I'm sure there are health codes being broken with that one..... And you might start baking under the spotlight. Crowd reaction: Mmmmmm Bacon! Auuugh *drool*

These days there's so many bands that crossdress, wear costumes, look like vampires, etc. So I doubt you will have much to worry about.

Good luck with the new band. ^_^

So long as you own it you'll be fine. If you're nervous and uncertain they might smell weakness...it's not exactly a new thing no matter the motivation anyway as has been mentioned, can't imagine any problems outside of true redneck territory.

Isn't music all about expressing yourself? It's not about the fans, it's about doing what you wanna do. If your case is walking out on stage wearing a dress and jamming out on whatever instrument you have, own it! \m/>_<\m/

To be honest, Marilyn Manson's most iconic image is when he dressed up in a latex body suit with breasts and no genitalia. If anyone guessed you weren't the gender you're trying to portray yourself as, they'll probably accept you anyway because they'll probably think it's a shock-value image or just an "experimental band" thing.

As of right now, I have a few film roles lined up that I may be able to go ahead and portray before I transition; it's a few film roles that require me wearing a mask (horror character) and it works perfectly because I don't really want anyone in the mainstream media world to know what I look like before my transition.

on stage you can crossdress just cause you want to, as long as your style suits you. no need to worry about whether someone notices your body isn't the same sex as what you present as, you have no obligation to explain if you do it just for fun or because you're transsexual or whatever

I've been on stage in a mini-dress, Doc Martin boots, hairy legs whilst singing a skiffle version of pretty vacant. True, we were not booked again, but I don't think it was the dress.

there are also cases like sakurai atsushi who can wear a , or even a , and still be counted as one of the sexiest men ever. his performance is so good nobody really cares what he wears

Maynard James Keenan doesn't seem to have any issues with it? Rockstars have been doing it for years.

Don't confuse image (performance) with reality - two different things.  After all my enduring image of Marilyn Manson is setting up the kitchen so he could bake cupcakes for his girlfriend (who he would marry, and then cheat on with an underage girl).
