This may be a tough question!!! but might get some answers, who knows?
I'm a CD ofcourse but have had a stutter since I was a child. I've been to speech therapy over the years, but have'nt been going till about 2000/2001, I'm now 34, I talk okay but sometimes have my bad moments.
But BUT BUT!!! I've recently made some other CD,TS friends and 2 of them have a stutter too, one is 50 and has stuttered all his life and the other 47. I asked them how they think it stemmed and they have no idea, only that they were bullied alot as kids. Is it common among CDs, it just seems a coincidence. I am jumping too far into this, or am I over reacting. Feel free.

I had trouble with S's as a kid, but no stuttering problems.

I have never, as far as I can remember, stuttered, well maybe once or twice when I was realy stunned or shocked by something.

...and I forgot, I have never had any speech or reading problems as a child or in adulthood either.

another thing...on the article, TS stands for Tourette's  Syndrome and not Transsexulism.

As a child I had a problem with stuttering, but this went away by the time I was in my late teens or early twenties.  I never had reading problems and was a very precocious reader.  I have always been extremely shy and attribute this in part to my early stuttering.  I never liked having to speak in front of a group.

I tend to stutter if I am a) very tired or b) my mind is racing faster than my tongue. 

There have been times in class when I will be trying to make a point and I can't - get - it - out!  I take a second to close my eyes and say aloud, "Stop and say it sloooowly."  After that, I'll say what ever the phrase was that I was having trouble with v e r y   s l o w l y...  Once I do that, I can get back to my Upstate New York tongue-speed.

I have allways had a slight stutter/stammer. Don't know if its a CDS/TS thing though.

Nope no stuttering here.
I did have speech therapy for what was called a "lazy tongue" when I was a young child.

hi IM sandra jane I started stuttering when I was 10 .it was not much longer that I started wearing my sisters clothes. I now wear my wifes clothes but she does not know .   I keeped it form her for 26 years i crossdress in private when she is at work. If talk on the phone when I am dressed up I do not stammer but I do when in my male clothes. so it must be the thouht of getting caught when dressed up that makes me nervous.   p s I am new to the site and not got any friends yet and only just getting uesed to computer

Hmm, the pattern seems to be that stuttering is much more common in CDs, but not TSs.

I had a studdering problem more so in my younger days, but it went completely away after I can out.  I also have the thought overrun the speach circuits thing, where I would need to stop and start over slowly. I have that less now too, but it was a real problem in my younger days.  Hence the studdering.

I occasionaly studder or stammer... but only when really angry, excited or tired... basicly when I cant remember the word Im trying to say.  I usualy go silent and spin my hands hopeing the other person will get the point and then spew out the meaning of the word rather than the word itsself...  *Shrugs*  but everyone I know does pretty much the same thing... I just do it more often LoL.

I have brain farts. Does that count as anything?

I  STUTTERED   UP  TO THE  AGE   15 YR  OLD . BUT  NEW FRIENDS  SOME  TIMES  ONE OR TWO  WORDS  THEN I'AM  OK    

I forget words, which causes a little stammering when I'm tired.  And I mumble, which irritates everyone. 

Mumble.

But perhaps it would be worth it to see what the distribution of stuttering throughout society is.  Per a google search(http://www.google.com/search?q=stuttering+statistic), about 1% of the population at any given time is a stutterer.

Seems like a high coincidence, but . . . maybe we're just nervous.

I have a small speech problem. As far as the reading thing goes, I read a page of a normal novel page about every 7-10 seconds and remember far more about a book than normal readers. Although, the speech problem and reading ability definately comes from my Autism not my GID.

i had a stuttering problem as a kid but have out grown it mostly.  I still do from time to time especially if I am upset or nervous have issues with words that start with A and G.  G words are the worst.

I still have an issue with stuttering on certain words, or if I get excited. My brain computes faster than I can talk usually about a paragraph faster. Kinda shows when I'm around friends.  I not sure why I stutter sometimes-I mean I majored in English in my studies and passed with flying colors.
