I don't know why I am even on here tonight. Just yesterday I was the closest to suicide ever. My freind of 25 years basically disowned and abandon me. I did not expect him to accept my transition and do cart wheels he has some strong religious convictions,  but I was shocked at what his reply was. It seems the ones that say Jesus helped and loved everyone, don't seem to follow that philosophy or even come close.

Some of the most cruelest and ruthless people are the so good "believers"

Needles to say I did not commit suicide and still have faith in God.. I messaged back a reply that included this statement."I will not abandon my God! but I will abandon you"

I will march on!

It really is amazing how many so-called 'Christians' out there claim to follow the bible and it's teachings, but the minute you make them put their money where their moth is, they are right there trying to hide behind the good book with claims of God hates you God this God this, The lord will smite thee, etc. And I honestly do pity them. What happened to 'Love thy neighbor'? or ' Judge not lest ye be judged?'

Dont let these wannabe's and hypocrites get to you. God loves you and DOES NOT Make mistakes. Those people just attack us thinking that it will get them a spot in heaven. I have a Brother-in-law who is just like that.

This was one thing I mentioned in my coming out email to him. I told him God did not make a mistake, I am this way to show my children and others the meaning of LOVE!

I know others that have said when coming out that God made a mistake, if they say this then I find it hard they could believe God is so powerful, how could someone so perfect make a mistake.

I struggled with my acceptance with God early on in my transition, it was a very difficult struggle. I have come to believe this is Gods' will.

Big Hugs Sis. I was doing some internet searchung prior to writing a letter-to-the-editor of the local paper on same-sex marriage, and basically found that as a Lesbian I am not really welcome except in the Uniting Church and the Quakers.
So I will ignore all other religious organisations and their homophobia from now on.  God knows what I really look like,  :) I don't need some old man's permission to exist.

Hi Shelly,
Thank you for not doing anything silly. You are loved here by people who know what love is. Sadly some people who "love god" do not understand the concept that they spout. Anyone who professes to 'love god' but hate or disown people is ignoring what love is about.

I am not a believer but I will do anything to allow people to have the right to profess their religion. And they cannot see how strange that is.

Hold on in and remember when the walls close in we are here.

Hugs

My aunt is a Minister in the Uniting Church here in Australia and accepted me with open arms, as she did her gay son.. She has told me that, apart from suggesting men shouldn't cross dress in a Jewish temple, there's really not a thing in the bible to cover us - at least using a sane interpretation.  She also insisted I come to a women's group she runs at her church.. Which proved to be a giggle, the girls were all really nice to me - but boy did they have some questions..  ;)

And Karen, the Uniting Church are mostly a pretty good bunch from my experience..

And as 'The Temple' no longer exists it looks like it's a "lay-down misere' "really.   I have concluded the main offence I are committing as a  Lesbian is refusing to be owned by a man.  I think I am becoming a radical feminist! AGGHHHHH! That's far too politically correct.

Good for you Shelly.  It's great that you have maintained your faith in God and not let your "friend" steal that away from you.  I know when I first came out to my parents, they also tried to use 'Religion' against me.  And, through it all, I have found myself having a closer walk with God.  I too believe that God made me this way.  And as you said, God does not make any mistakes.
