City manager fired for wanting sex change will fight to keep job

A city manager facing dismissal after going public with plans to pursue a sex-change operation said Thursday he plans to fight to keep his job.

A courier delivered Steve Stanton's appeal Thursday to Largo city officials. The City Commission that voted 5-2 last week to begin the process of firing him must now hold another public hearing so he can make a final appeal to keep the job he has held for 14 years.

From the link: "The National Center for Transgender Equality....also offered assistance," he said.

Now they've gone and done it.  They've got Mara Keisling involved.  For those that don't know her, she's the Executive Director of NCTE and has one of the sharpest minds (and quickest wit) of anyone I've ever known.

YES!  This needs to be debated in public!  While I feel sorry for Susan Stanton (I really do for it is a terrible thing to face), I am thrilled that this thing is out in the open and being discussed.  Let's put the prejudice and bigotry out there in black and white.

Yes Cindi it does and it also needs to be spread far and wide including outside of the GLBT community. I have posted these articles on many many boards. I hope everyone does the same and updates them.

That's an awesome idea.  The main problem is I have only been visiting TS related boards for quite a while.  I'll see what I can do.
