hi there everybody

just wondering where you all went for your holidays this year.........if you've been already??

and if you have a photo that would be interesting

i visited Scotland and back to my scotto-irish gaelic roots

and found the experience very moving

it was all a beautiful experience ......culminating in the highland games in the village/small town where my grandmother was born and lived all those long years ago.....and in the street overlooking the games

during our travels we stumbled into what is reputed to be the oldest inn in Scotland

and there low and behold written by the side of the chimney place was a poem written by Robby Burns

he actually wrote it directly on the fireside

well you could maybe try that down at your local pub but they would more likely accuse you of graffiti rather than frame it in glass for all to see

i had a nice poem to write..............but I thought the landlord would be frowning on me writing on his walls

especially as it was a rather upmarket Scottish Inn/Hotel!!

well here is my photo taken yards from the Hotel and at the end of Loch Tay.........so typical of the beautiful scenery that beholds the eye in the Scottish Highlands

i hope you like it......well its maybe a bit tiny and looses its aura!!......but I look forward to reading where you went on your holiday

love misty xxx

ps or are you planning a late holiday or a winter one

i might go to Donegal at Christmas and dance my heart away.........i need that so bad right now.......xxx

I don't like to travel on holidays, TOO MANY PEOPLE, the roads are insane and air travel is almost impossible.

Having said that, I might have to visit my mother just after Christmas she is in failing health and this might be the last time I will see her.

We cruised to Vanautu. What a nightmare that was.It was the inaugral cruise of the pacific sun which is the one that ran aground in Noumea recently.

We had backed up toilets, terrible food, lined up for everything and nothing worked. This year? Definitely not a cruise.

You sound like me, I love going into the back country and being alone.  Just sitting in the woods or on a rock in the mountains, no one anywhere near.

I did some hiking in the canyons in Utah this summer, I could walk all day and not see another person.

My mother is about 1/2 way across the country from me.  Not close at all.  She's in her mid 80's almost blind and had a small stroke this summer.

Hi Shelly:

While I have not yet been on holidays this year, i hope to go in November for 3 or 4 weeks.
Flying is not my cup of tea.  I have a new travel trailer that I will be taking with me. The thing i like about it, is regardless of where I stop, I know the facilities i will have, and it makes it so much easer to take clothes with you. While i will take some guy clothes with me, my plans are well i will dress very casual and uni-sex i plan on being femme most of the time with the exception of maybee slacks. Hope all the other girls had or will have a good vacation

I went to SF for surgery and met up with Terri-Gene while I was there. Was a good holiday because recovery was easy and uneventful.

I generally dislike travelling, but I have to get my mother out of here for Christmas because without Dad around it's kind of depressing. Last year was Puerto Vallarta. This year will have to be in Canada because my citizenship card is not back yet from my name and gender change. Ergh.

I didn't have a holiday this summer but moving to Oregon and arriving near the outer edge of portland and finding this was a holiday in itself. :)

Now that is a great scene.  I should use that as my screen saver.

Going away on holiday is something that rich people can afford.   :P

I spent a week handling various crisis and spent much time traveling between states to help out.  Hey, at least I was not at work, which actually would have been more relaxing now that I think of it.

For me holidays mean family getting together.
Either we go to there home or they come to yours.
Usually it's to have fun with my sons and grandchildren.
Sometime though we go do see your parents.
Labor Day we had all or children and grandchildren and my parents spend a couple of days with us. We play games, ate, and enjoyed each others company.

What you have been talking about are vacations in my book.
Anyway great pictures of Multnomah Falls.

That's what most of us here in the US think of when we say holiday,  but Misty, who started this thread is from somewhere in the UK where what we call a vacation is called a holiday.

Getting together with family is one of the best times as long as you can be yourself and all accept you.  I havent been in that situation yet, so far I've been sitting in the corner hiding during holidays.  I have hopes things will be better by the next holiday.
