I've been on T for 10 months now and things are finally getting better in lots of ways. I've been itching to get back to PA because the streets there are nicely paved and ideal for skating/biking. The itch is like an oozing rash that is increasingly difficult to ignore, especially with all my bubbling energy. So how long you been at it? What's your favorite music to skate/thrash to? Any footage you're proud of, need feedback, advice on perfecting a trick? Throw it on me!

oh, and the most intense or best skate films/videos you've ever seen. I could dig that.

Well, I skate but it's just casual (I don't do any tricks).  I own a high quality set of cruising rollerblades and fly around at like 15-20 mph when I'm in the mood for it.  There's not really anywhere nice to skate down here in Florida though, so I go circles around my apartment complex.  We're one of the least pedestrian/bike friendly states in the country I'm sure.

I started skating when I was 12 or 13 but my board broke (my parents bought it at Walmart as a birthday present - the thought was what counted and I'm definitely grateful) and I never took the chance to buy another one. I've always wanted to deep down inside, and last year I was really close to buying a longboard. I still might, but honestly, at 21 I feel reeally ridiculous learning to skate when there are 12 year olds flipping ollies and grinding along rails while I wobble by.

I ride my bike everywhere and plan to take it onto some good trails next summer. My new city doesn't offer much for off-road biking.

I recently acquired a BMX bike and I've had a lot of fun with it. I don't know any tricks or anything, but I think it's a lot of fun to ride up and down the ramps and do jumps and stuff. The really odd thing about it though is that I'm always, without fail, the only (bio) female in the park. Surely I'm not the only girl out here brave enough to ride a tiny bike up and down some hills.

4 or 5 wheel blades? Blades for me,  know that Houston and Austin have a lot of good paved "trails". Austin has the Veloway, an abandoned subdivision where roads were built but not much else, excellent placed to skate. Plus since its the home of Lance Armstrong cycler's have an attitude! Anybody LUGE?

I have a skateboard/longboard hybrid setup that I use to get around town...and I have a pair of blades I cross-train with for skiing.  As far as tricks, the only think I'm really into is parkour and/or freerunning.

I still own a board and do plenty of stuff with it. The halfpipe is usually my place to relax and vent - but I never showed up there as a girl before. It would be worth a try repainting my board and show the guys there what girls can do...

Ugh, I suck at it. Last time I did it, I was 14, and I literally fell on my ass and it hurt like frick. >.< I've kind of been taumatized lawl, I think my old skateboard must be in the storeroom or something, idk

I used to skate alot in highschool. i was decent enough. was even sponsored by a local shop.
been getting back into it a little when i have time. I love doing big rails, gaps, and stairsets.

heres a clip of me from a few years back doing a decent sized stairset. trust me it looks way bigger in person haha.

I used to ice skate, but the town where I lived closed it's rink, and my skates are still at my son's house waiting to be picked up.  Hobart has a small rink, but I refuse to use rental skates as I don't trust their sharpness.  Blunt skates are a great way to fall.
I don't inline skate any more either after a severe fall stuffed my shoulder when I tried to do a bit of cross-training on wheels. Edges only for me.

I made it to the skate grounds today, presenting as a woman...

At first, they were like if they had to impress me, trying to find new and creative ways to break their necks - which was more or less just plain macho like.

As soon as it was my turn, the whole atmosphere changed as everyone was staring at me, at the stranger girl who's about to try - waiting for me to fall or fail. But after a few seconds I had found the feeling for the board again and started to do a few tricks like the popular handplant as I used to.

The bad thing was that I could hear the guys talking about me, about that unknown girl having fun. There was no way to socialize with those guys there - the answer was just plain mobbing as if I were intruding into their sports and they did all to kick me out.

If I think back when I was there as a guy, I was welcomed and people were showing each other how to do certain tricks and everything was quite peaceful. But I couldn't remember seeing a single girl out there. Now I know why...

Just 4.  They have relatively large (90mm) wheels and are whisper quiet on sidewalks.   It's super fun to skate on smooth surfaces, but the vibrations on roads always tire me out after like 4-5 miles.

90mm...yeah! Have 76mm's on this pair. Ya might try a less firm wheel on concrete.

The Rideau Canal Sarah?  I'd love to try it.  Maybe I will get there one day. There is a trip down it on YouTube that looks totally amazing. We don't have a lot of choice about where here, it's a rink or nothing!
I understand there are some outside rinks in the mountains in New Zealand, but that is about it for this part of the world.
