In some cases, FBI agents demanded the data without proper authorization, according to a 126-page audit by Justice Department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine. At other times, the audit found, the FBI improperly obtained telephone records in non-emergency circumstances.

Now, I really want to know.  With all this surveillance, what exactly have they found? How much has been spent? The only terrorists that they have caught here in the US were not terrorists at all.  They've managed to destroy many lives of upstanding people here.  A few live near me.

It just shows that government must be held to our standards of checks, balances, and oversight. We must never give these up for any reason.

Lets be honest...

Is anyone here really surprised by this abuse?!  I certainly am not.

Surrendering freedoms in the name of supposed security only invites abuse like this.  This was no different than what the KGB used to do in the Soviet Union.

So who's the Evil Empire now?

The rest of the world thinks that it is us Chaunte. I'm thinking that they aren't all that far off the mark.

I applaud you for saying what so few are willing to say out loud.

I think that it is very educational to live outside our fair country for a year or two. It gives you a different and better rounded perspective of the world in general. We don't see things so clearly.

True.  We tend to have a very myopic view.
A few examples would be My gas, My oil, My wallet, My demands, My needs

All very My-opic.
