I just had a professional makeup lesson and it looks great.  ;D The ladies in the shop made me feel wonderful and were totally accepting. I am totally going back there for all my makeup needs. I'm pretty sure I was even blushing  :embarrassed:

All the makeup is mineral based. It feels so lightweight I can barely tell I have any on at all. I generally don't like how I look when I look in the mirror, but I couldn't stop looking at myself.  ;D

Thanks for reading my happy rant! Maybe it will brighten your day.

First of all thank you for sharing your experience with us! I am glad and happy for you! I would be blushing too! Don't worry ;) I tried on make up for the first time the other day not much just eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and some eye shadow. I too share the feeling of not liking how I look in the mirror, but like you said " but I couldn't stop looking at myself!" Anyways yes it brightened my day because it brought the feelings I was having that day back. Thanks
Don't judge a book by its cover! My lifes been like a country song! True love, amazing grace, severe heartbreak, buckles, boots n spurs! I 've been thrown off the bull a couple times, I keep getting up and dusting myself off! Can't give up on my happily ever after!

Was that Bare Escensuals by any chance? I've sat in the "boyfriend chair" there many a time while my friends get makeup tutorials. The makeup artists always really chill and professional, and I've even seen openly gay male makeup artists working in the trendy mall locations.

Thank you all for the replies.

@Jen-Jen
Glad I could brighten your day.  ;D

@Young Nikki
Unfortunately I was so happy I forgot to take pics (DOH!). I need to practice the look so I will post a pic soon.

@Wolfsnake
It was Cor cosmetics. They are a local makeup/spa in Anchorage,AK. They mix their own pigments and everything. They do sell their stuff on thier website too if anyone wants to try them out.

Cool! I'm an Anchor Town native, btw. Glad you found such an open-minded place. It really varies between super-conservative and super-accepting up there, in my experience.

@Wolfsnake

Thanks. Yeah so far I have had good experiences, but I'm also uber paranoid and not really "out". I do worry about those kinds of issues sometimes. You never know about those rural/frontier type places and how people will react.
