So I was cleaning out my room today and I found a few eyeliner pencils that I bought almost two years ago and I guess I lost and forgot about them.

I put them on today and they only last a few hours. Within only a few hours the top liner was pretty much gone and the bottom was falling down my face. These are Sephora and LORAC brand pencils and were probably a little pricey and should be good quality. Do all pencils do this? I've heard liquid and felt tips work better but give a different look. I also dug up some MAC eyeshadows that are probably quite old too.

I did NOT put primer on before, I usually only do that for shadow only, and I have oily, droopy eyelids. Also, like I said these are old pencils. I don't really want to throw them out since they are good brands and I don't like wasting money. But why are these eyeliners such crap?!

My cousins have those brands of eyeliner, and they keep them for the same amount of time then throw them out. Generally speaking, you're supposed to throw makeup and lotion and stuff like that out after a year. Any binding agent exposed to the elements in a consumable product like this does not last very long... Try shaving away the tip and do it over. See if that helps.

Truth is, they're dust. They put colored dirt on your eyeballs and it eventually comes off. Length of stay is a YMMV thing.

Primer/eyeshadow pencil yor lids and use a transparent powder on top. Then apply the eyeliner.

Yeah, even if you don't wear eyeshadow its still a good thing to wear a primer. it gets rid of those oily lids which break down the eyeliner.

you can 'set' the eyeliner with an eyeshadow of the same color.
pencil eyeliners are kind of waxy and emollient-like, a dry powder will make them stay on way longer.

so can I use my regular face powder on my eyelids to help the makeup stay on? In addition with the primer?

Yeah...apply the regular powder with a cheap brush and getting some setting spray. If you're using the cream shadow sticks, use that and just powder.

-primer(leave in for 10 minutes)
-prep spray-
foundation-
concealer-
transparent powder/foundation powder
eye primer
eye powder
eye shadow
spray again
Apply liner and mascara
