Changing my name?

Lynn

Right so, I had already settled on my name being Lily.
However, when I came out yesterday I noticed my mom has issues actually pronouncing that, I guess it's hard to do for Dutch speaking people. So that got me thinking about possibly changing it to something maybe easier to pronounce.

Then I was also thinking that maybe the name is too exotic, and might possibly give me away at a later time?

I'm not quite sure what to do here, I like the name Lily, but I wouldn't mind settling for another name (I've been thinking about Lynn, which seems to be a universally more common name). Is it a good idea to still change it, after having already told people I'd like to be named Lily?

I've changed my mind on what name I want at least 3 times. I started with Samantha, went on to Sylvia (it was WAY too sexy for me), the finally settled on Sadie, and who knows, I might end up changing that later if I feel inclined to!

My advice is to take things slow when you think of what your new name will be. Imagine what it will be like to have people call you by that name. It doesn't necessarily matter how others can pronounce it or if others like it or if it's too exotic or anything like that. What matters is how comfortable YOU are with it.

Also I wouldn't say Lily is an exotic name. It's a very pretty name that I've seen on a few women, and it didn't seem outlandish or big or anything. To me it's a very simple and pretty name!

I should've realized that it wasn't uncommon for such a simple thing about being indecisive about your name after what I learnt in the past few weeks!
Thank you for helping me realize this Sadie. :)

I'm not sure what name I'll end up having. I like short, yet elegant names (Lily, Lynn, Luna, Anna, Annie, etc.). I'm leaning towards Lynn right now though. But I'm just not sure yet ... I'll figure it out in time I'm sure!

After thinking about it a lot for the past couple of days, I've decided to go for Lynn. It feels very natural sounding to me (as in, it won't take me long at all to get used to people calling me that), and it's been met with great positivity from everyone I've suggested that name to so far.

So now I can start signing my posts with a name again (provided I actually remember to do so :D)
