Many of you may not know about the recent news in California, and the new law signed in by Gov. Brown. Here is the original news post here on Susans.

{California State New Pro-Trans Laws}

I asked the question on that post, but I don't think a lot of us check out the news section.

"Does anyone have anymore information on this? I was born in California. I am curious as to what"clinically appropriate treatment" means. I still plan on having SRS, but does this mean that I would be able to get my female birth certificate before having surgery? This is an incredible regards as what it means, just the awareness will make it better for all of us."

So? Does anyone have any insight on what this might mean for those of us born in California?

I don't live in CA, so I'm not completely aware of all the ins and outs.

But, from what I've read, "Clinically Appropriate Treatment" means that you are under a doctors care and have been diagnosed as having GID and are following treatment and guidelines for transitioning.

You'll need a letter from your physician or therapist attesting to that fact.

It's a big deal alright.  It's one of the most forward thinking and appropriate laws in all the states for getting you BC changed.
