It was kinda scary at first, then I was okay with it, then I started freaking out when it was hard to get off completely lolz

It didn't really make me feel feminine at all, it just made my mannish hands stick out. :-\

Ugh, it looked really ugly too, like I made a mess of it. I think I'm suppose to let them dry and then put a coat of something else on, meh.

Eh, maybe I'll get better results later in life.

I moved to clear nailpolish a couple weeks ago :) I still present as a guy, but have been growing my nails out and clear nailpolish isn't like "omg crossdresser!"...people just assume I'm gay.

Anyway, here is what I figured out so far.

1) Don't worry about being careful. If it gets onto the skin, it is totally fine... you can just pick at it later and clean it up when it dries.

2) Use lots! Don't use thin coats or you have trouble getting the surface really smooth. You kinda want the polish to settle and work itself out into a smooth surface....then a couple layers of that and you are good.

3) Careful while they are drying!! If you bump them against ANYTHING once they get to the gummy stage, it is really hard to fix...and you start getting a really bad surface...

I use nail-polish as a way to bond with my female friends and my best friend (pansexual FTM). I've never done it myself but I'm kinda clumsy with my hands. I get them to do it and I get to look pretty, while they get to feel like they're teenagers again (or in the case of my best friend, he gets to practice on someone else).

I keep having to take it off for work though. Makes me rage and feel like my individuality is being crushed. I wanna be colorful evvveryyywhere I goooo!!!! *pouts*

I started with clear, and had the excuse ready if needed, that it was special stuff to harden my nails so they wouldn't split or wear unevenly when I was playing guitar.  >:-)

My first month or so of painting my nails at weekends were sloppy & messy, this is partly because my left hand shakes whenever I try to do something that needs precision.
Then after a couple of months I discovered my favourite product EVER, Rimmel pro nail varnish, it goes on smooth every time, seriously i've not had any streaks or imperfections yet! This is partly because of the brush being flat so every stroke is even.
Also if I start on my thumb then by the time I finish my little finger my thumb has completely dried (yes it really does dry that quickly) due to it drying so fast I barely have time to muck it up by accidently touching it.
It goes on so well I dont even get a problem using my shaky left hand
The only downside is that it comes off a bit too easily but I get round this by using a clear top coat (my fave has glitter so I get a beautiful sparkly effect)

I moved into a shared house a few weeks ago & after asking a few discreet questions i've decided that it would be a very bad idea to make my situation known so i can't paint my nails  :( today i'm off to my exes house for 3 days to look after my dog whilst she goes away for a long weekend at Blackpool & I can't wait to get there & get my nails painted. It also means that for the next 3 days I don't have to change my clothes to go to the toilet or make a coffee, it's going to be like a 3 day party for me.

Practice makes perfect. But if you're like me, get your hubby/partner to do it for you :)

I can't really have my finger nails painted (i would really love to though!) but my wife keeps my toe nails painted pretty much 100% of the time, they are pink right now :) And sometimes I paint hers but I'm not as good as she is =P

Actually I shaped them rly nicely but I wasn't happy with how long they were. (even though they're longer than most ppl's) >.<

What color did you paint them, Trista?

This sparkly, kind of reddish, violet color. It was pretty.

Painting nails does take practice..

I keep my toes pretty much painted 100% of the time... I love any reddish colour... At the moment my toes are painted a nice blue colour.. It actually looks quite nice..

My hands.. mostly clear nail polish with white tips...
