WHEN androgynous model Andrej Pejic met The Queen last night, he decided to "be himself" and wore a skirt.

"I'm wearing a Paul Smith blazer, because I wanted to wear at least one British designer, with a vintage Versace pencil skirt and just some heels," Pejic told us as he got ready for the event. "I wanted to just be myself - androgynous - and play with the masculine blazer and pencil skirt. It's also a bit Nineties, which I love."

Pejic attended the event at Buckingham Palace along with fellow Australians "from all walks of life" - including Elle Macpherson and Hugh Jackman - ahead of The Queen's visit to the country.

This officially makes my day. Sorry, this officially makes my entire life. A few weeks ago, news broke that Andrej Pejic would be meeting Queen Elizabeth at a dinner party on October 13th at Buckingham Palace. Andrej was one of a few big-name Aussies from the fashion industry who was invited to break bread with Big E before she heads to the wonderful land of Oz. Naturally, we immediately speculated over what they would talk about, and of course, what he would wear.

I was waiting with bated breath to hear about what he actually wore, and better yet to see an image.

When we heard the news that Andrej Pejic had been invited to visit the Queen at Buckingham Palace we were so excited that we dusted down our book on royal protocol and made a few suggestions about how lovely androgynous Pejic might interpret the dress code 'lounge suit/ day dress'. Would his feminine side take over on the day and result in a twinset and pearls, or would the Australian supermodel, who's modelled both menswear and womenswear and most famously closed Jean Paul Gaultier's couture show wearing a transparent marabou-trimmed bridal gown, go with his characteristic personal model off-duty uniform of leather leggings and a see-through top?

In the event, Andrej, who by all accounts is a very well brought up young man with lovely manners, and wouldn't do anything to cause offence – wore the following ensemble according to NY magazine; 'Paul Smith blazer, Issey Miyake shirt, vintage Versace pencil skirt, his mother's vintage eighties belt, and Toni Bianco shoes. Pejic tell us his ensemble was inspired by "Sharon Stone, with a little bit nineties." He continues: "I wanted to keep it chic and smart. I mixed a men's blazer with a leather pencil skirt to achieve the look."'
